A siren is a creature in Greek mythology and are found in many Greek stories such as Homer's "Odyssey". They are women who lure sailors to their deaths by using their enchanting music and voices, causing ships to become shipwrecked due to the rocky coasts of their island. But, a siren's silence is much more deadly than its song. In 1917, Frank Kafka wrote that some sailors have managed to escape when the siren was singing, but when the siren would be silent -- there were no survivors. They are often seen in areas which have rocky coasts and are surrounded by cliffs and rocks. If sailors would survive the crashes, the sirens would eat them, themselves being cannibals. According to Gaius Julius Hyginus, sirens are fated until only the mortals who had heard their songs were able to pass by them without being killed. Some say that sirens have great intelligence, being able to escape from most sailors that would attempt to hunt them.

How do you kill a siren?

It would be wise to use a harpoon to impale it but you would also have to avoid being shipwrecked.
