You guys are amazing people, you know that, right? :D
Haha, anyway this chapter is for morning_sunshine99 because she's always been there for me! Literally, we're in all the same classes. For you, my lovely ;)
What is up with me and emocons today???
Anywho!
Brooke's POV:
"What party?" I asked, looking up at Maddy with a confused look on my face.
She bounced up and down with excitement, "Only the best back to school party ever. Josh Harrison, that's Savannah's boyfriend, by the way, has one every year on the first day of school. We have to go!"
"Uh-" I started to say but she cut me off.
"No ifs or buts allowed!" I was going to point out that I didn't say 'if' or 'but' but she interrupted again, "We are, so, going together."
I sighed, "Fine, I'll come, okay? On one condition." She opened her mouth to cut in but I gave her the 'Shut up and let me finish' look and she bit her lip.
"My brother and friends get to come along." I said finally and she beamed, "Okay!" She chirped and typed her number, and Riley's number into my phone, "Call me."
I nodded and pocketed my phone. Somehow, I couldn't focus on anything right now. Damian's hurt face and clenched fists came to my mind.
And I abrubtly pushed the thought away. I couldn't afford to think like that. Not now, not ever.
Anyways, I had some convincing to do.
******
"Please?"
"No."
"Pretty please?"
"No."
"Pretty please with a cherry on the top?"
Bree raised her eyes, "I don't even like cherries."
I tried again, "Pretty please with gummy bears on the top?"
"Aww, Buffy likes gummy bears?" My brother cooed as he set his tray down next to mine.
If looks could kill, Branton would have been five feet under the ground.
"Oh come on Bree!" I groaned, "Come to the party with me!"
Branton raised his eyebrows, "Is that what this is about?"
Bree was seething at this point, "Don't act like it's a small little thing."
Branton rolled his eyes, "Sis, you just have to admit that you're best friends with a coward."
Now he's done it, I thought, my brother just signed his own death warrant.
To my extreme surprise, Bree just snorted, "I don't know what you're going on about. I was just going to tell Brooke that I'd love to come." She tossed her hair like it was no big deal. But I could see the fear brewing up inside her.
I gave my brother the 'I can't believe you just did that.'
He shrugged and gave me a 'You should be thanking me.' look.
I smiled at Bree, "Wanna head to class now?" I said, knowing that my best friend would, at that moment, pole dance just to get away from my brother.
She gave me a thankful smile and we walked to our next class.
She groaned, "I cannot believe that just happened."
I shrugged, "It won't be that bad."
She glared at me, "That's because once we get there you'll have all five hundred of your drunk jock-cheerleader friends waiting for you. I'll have to wander around alone."
I have to admit, that stung, "Okay, How bout I promise that I won't leave your side the whole time?"
Bree raised her eyebrows, "Promise?"
"Promise." I agreed and she grinned.
******
"You look gorgeous!" Bree gushed when I let her into my room. I had on a blue halter neck dress which was made of this shimmering material and my hair was in soft curls cascading down my shoulder.
"You too!" I smiled at my best friend who was wearing a black (obviously!) lacy dress with ripped stockings. Her dark hair was curled up on top of her head.
She grinned, "I clean up nicely when I try."
Just then the door barged open and my brother marched in, "Are we going or wha-" He stopped awkwardly. I looked up at him and saw he was looking at Bree. She was staring back with an equal amount of awe.
Well, I thought, mischievously , this is getting interesting.
I cleared my throat, smirking. "If you guys are done drooling over eachother, can we leave now."
They immediately broke their gazes and looked at me sheepishly. I could see Bree's neck turning red.
"I, uh, don't know what you're talking about." Bree finally stammered out.
I rolled my eyes, "Sure." I said, stretching the syllables.
"Let's just go." I said, shaking my head at the two of them.
Someone remind me to play matchmaker in the future.
I followed my brother to the car.
"You know," He said as he turned on the ignition, "You shouldn't go around looking like that. Like I've said before, it only makes my job as the extremely overprotective brother harder."
I heard a very audible snort from the back seat.
Glad to know everything was back to normal, I thought, shaking my head.
"We're here." My brother sang, after sitting in the car and being forced to listen to BVB for an entire hour.
"Yes!" I cheered and jumped out, only to find my feet were completely frozen.
"Ouch, ouchie, ouch." I muttered as we walked to the house, "This is all your fault." I said, glaring at the culprit.
My brother faked shock, "What could I have possibly done to cause you discomfort, my lady?" He exclaimed dramatically.
I rolled my eyes, "Here's what you could've done," I said, shoving him, "You could have driven faster."
"I drive pretty fast, thank you very much." My brother whined, sounding annoyed.
"Aww, did I hurt your wittle ego?" I coo, poking his cheek.
"Let's just go inside." Branton grumbled, dragging me in.
The living room was a mess, but then again, that made it a typical party.
Baby tonight, the DJ got us fallin in love again was bursting the speakers and all the crazy drunk teens were yelling out the lyrics.
I took a glass of coke from the stand, since I was never much of a drinker and started roaming around, waving to people I knew when I saw something that made me stop, suck my breath in and drop my glass at the same time.
No.
What is it? WHAT IS IT?
Sorry for that cliffhanger...well not really ;P
