Part 16- takes 2 to tango.

Kane, Case, and John above

"Case get your bullshit ass back here!" I yelled causing him to stop in his tracks

"What do you want Ree?" He said using my nickname he gave me.

"Kane had nothing to do with this."

"Oh really? I believe it takes 2 to tango or am I wrong?" He said turning to look at me.

"Well obviously he had something to do with that." I said walking closer to him.

"How could you do this to me Reece? I poured my heart out to you and you answer me by sleeping with my competition, not to mention one of my old buddies from back in the day." He said looking genuinely hurt.

"Because Case, I knew you didn't meant it."

"What? Why the fuck would you think that?"

"Because talk is cheap, and yours is currently on clearance. You can say all you want, but if you never show it then it means nothing. People talk all the time, talk out their ass or talk the truth, it's all talk. Until they do something about it, it's nothing."

"That's not fair. You can't judge me off of everyone. It's not fair to me to do suc-"

"Not fair to you??" I said raising my voice, "what's not fair is me picking up pieces of me that you broke when you left. What's not fair is letting that bitch think she's better than me. What's not fair is going all of this time not saying anything to me then waltzing back in here begging for me, and convincing me to change my mind and putting me on the spot. I've had my fair share of unfairs , but I picked my sucker up out of the dirt and moves on Case! even when every fiber wanted to call you, to give you a chance, to forget it all and go back to being us."

He just stared at me blankly taking it what I said.

I still kept my gaze with him, "I needed a hero so that's what I became.. Again. Since Caleb I didn't trust y'all, y'all talk like sugar, but actions like salt. I just can't deal with that shit Case. I can't. So be mad at me for sleeping with Kane, just know to my one guy, even though multiple times, it pales in comparison to your 500. So spare me the poor me. Talk to me when you don't react like a child." I said and turned and walked away leaving case just staring.

"What was that??" John asked as I met up with him halfway to the trailer.

"A reality check." I said walking into the trailer and slamming the door.

Sunday came around and it was the short round for Pendleton.

I haven't really spoke to Kane or Case since Saturday morning. I just stayed in the trailer and caught up on sleep. Kelsey even watered and fed the horses for me which I'm so grateful for.

I had my retro wrangler shirt on, dark cowgirl tuff jeans, and my black felt American hat.

I walked up to the concession stand to get me a Dr. Pepper before I saddled ace up when I saw Chance.

"What're you doing!" I yelled poking him in the back scaring him.

"Reece you scared the sh-sh-shit outta me!" He said catching his breath.

"Aw poor Chancey." I laughed a little.

Yeah me and chance flirted but it was all harmless. We've known each other since middle school so we're basically siblings.

"Reece I want you to meet my girlfriend, Mattie!"  He said introducing me to a short black haired girl.

"Hi! I'm Reece!" I said sticking out my hand.

"Mattie!" She's said shaking it, "I'm such a huge fan of yours. I love your horse, y'all are like poetry in motion."

"Aw thank you!" I said engulfing her in a hug "I love her chance!" I laughed releasing  her.

"Well y'all, I better get ready and get on Ace! It was nice meeting you! Hopefully see you soon, if not take care of Chance, I know he's a handful." I laughed a little then hugged Chance and hugged Mattie.

I left and got on Ace and warmed him up. By the time I was done it was almost time for barrels.

I maneuvered him into his spot and sent him off to the first barrel.

We ended up placing 3rd and Kelsey was 2nd! Happy days another check.

We collected our checks, loaded the horses and our stuff up and got ready to leave.

Kelsey went over to johns trailer real quick before we left so I was just sitting in the truck. I saw Kane's rig heading our way and he waved to me as he passed us by.

Gotta love that kid. No strings. Just best friends with benefits. Can't beat it.

Kelsey finally returned teary eyed.

"What the hell is the matter with you??"  I said looking at her

"I'm just gonna miss him so much" she said swiping a stray tear.

"Oh good God." I rolled my eyes putting the truck in drive and pulling out of Pendleton.

On the road we go again.
