4 - What is this 8th grade?

"So what do y'all wanna see?" Case asked as we got out of his truck

"I don't care." I said slamming the door.

"Easy on my baby." Case said referring to his truck and walked toward the theater with me, John, and Kelsey following. I just rolled my eyes in response.

"Oh and you're buying my snacks and drinks." I informed him and kept looking forward.

"What?! That wasn't part of the deal!" Case said stopping and looking at me.

"Aww didn't Mr. Cooper win a check?" I asked in a baby voice and patting his cheek then walked off.

"So did you!" He said catching up.

"Yeah but you're the guy."

I looked to the side and saw John and Kelsey laughing and talking. That didn't take long.

"See we could be like that!" Case said looking at John and Kelsey.

"Rather not." I said as we got to the ticket booth.

"Four tickets to 'Into The Storm' please." Case asked then looked at me. "Why do you hate me?"

"Are you serious?" I asked furrowing my eyebrows.

"Dead serious." He said grabbing the tickets an walking inside.

"Well I don't hate you, I dislike you, but not hate." I said waking to the cast counter.

"Ok, so why do you dislike me?" He asked looking at me.

"You're cocky, rude, a womanizer, and you think you hung the moon!" I said looking him in the eye.

"I'm not always like that." He said looking kinda hurt.

"From what I know of you, you are." I said buying my snacks.

"I thought I was buying that for you?" Case asked.

"Well I'm a nice person so I didn't make you." I said grabbing my snacks and walking to the theater with the others trailing with theirs.

"What are we seeing?" Kelsey asked finally.

"Into the Storm." I replied.

"Oh crap. That's gonna be scary." She said.

"I gotchu doll." John said winking at her.

"Gag." I scoffed.

"Lighten up babe." Case said wrapping an arm around my waist and pulling me into him.

"Let go you butt faced baboon." I told him and pinched his arm.

"Ow. What'd you do that for?" He asked rubbing his arm.

"You wouldn't let go." I said then walked into our theater.

We picked seat in the middle toward the top. The seating went John, Kelsey, me, then Case, unfortunately.

The movie started and we were halfway into the movie when Case did "the move". Ya know where the guy pretends to stretch but actually puts his arm around the girls shoulders.

"What is this 8th grade? Get your arm off of me." I said turning to look at him and when I did I noticed how close our faces were, our noses were almost touching. I continued to glare at him till he removed his arm.

"Ah you're no fun!" He said.

"Good!" I said looking back at the screen. I looked over at Kelsey and John and he had his arm around her and she was leaning on him. John isn't too bad. No where near Case that's for sure. John doesn't have a filter on his mouth but he's an alright guy.

After the movie finished we all walked out of the theater to leave when my eyes got as wide as watermelons.

"What is it Reece?" Kelsey asked concerned.

"Shh, don't say my name so loud." I hissed at a bewildered Kelsey. Then I looked at Case alarmed "I know I'm rude to you and all but could you like save my ass this one time and pretend to be my boyfriend?!"

"Yeah but wh-" Case started but was cut off by an all too familiar voice.

"Reece?"

I sucked up against Case while he reacted by puttin his arm around my waist.

"Hey Caleb." I said quietly. I looked over at Kelsey as realization hit her.

"What, what are you doing here?" Caleb asked.

"Seeing a movie." I said in a duh tone.

"Yeah. And who's this?" Caleb asked looking at Case.

I felt Case tense then he spoke

"Case Cooper. Reece's uh.. Boyfriend." Case said reaching his arm out to shake hands with Caleb.

"Nice to meet you!" Caleb said shaking hands and obviously sizing him up.

Case was obviously bigger. Caleb was 5'9 and only did baseball so he wasn't too muscular while Case was 5'11 and was a calf roper so he was built well and in great shape.

"Wow you did it. You actually got a boyfriend. Sure showed me up!" Caleb spoke looking at me after him and Case finished shaking hands.

I grabbed hold onto Case's thin shirt as I clenched my jaw. John and Kelsey stood there watching wide eyed

"Well I better get going. I'm going to the rodeo tonight so I'll see you at the tonight Reece. See ya!" He said winking and walking off.

After he left I let out a breath I didn't know I was holding.

"Thanks." I said weakly smiling up at Case.

"Who was that?" Case asked

"I'll tell y'all in the truck. Let's just go!" I said walking off to the truck with the others trailing behind. We all got into the truck in our precious sitting arrangements and they all looked at me.

"That was Caleb Foster. He was my boyfriend for a year or so an that year was the most miserable year of my life. He-he used to beat me.... It wasn't nothing at first, I just thought he was going trough something but it got worse until I couldn't take it anymore. He vowed if I left he would kick my ass or worse. When I didn't care what happened I gave that asshole what for. I beat his ass with a gosh damn frying pan. He said no guy would love me ever but who cares right? I glad I'm gone. So yeah that's what happened." I said breathing heavy.

"I'll kill him. I will!" Case announced.

"No no. It's the past. I'm looking towards the future now. If anything it made stronger." I said looking at him in the eyes.

Kelsey leaned over and started rubbing my back.

"I'm so sorry Reece." John said looking at me.

"Thanks but y'all quit feeling sorry for me! Please! Y'all are making me feel worse." I said.

"Fine." They all muttered.

Case looked at me intensely until he turned around and turned the truck on and drove off.
