"I can't dance," I laughed, as he took my hand gently, leading me to the open space in the middle of the room.
"It's okay," he consoled me, "just follow my lead."
With slow and tentative movements, he placed one of his hands on my waist, and brought my hand to rest on his shoulder. He took my other hand, clasping it in his own, and brought it up as well.
"We're going to ballroom dance?" I asked, raising my eyebrows in amusement.
"Might as well learn from the classics," he shrugged, a small smile inching its way across his face. A new song began as he stepped forward, gently pushing me back with him. His feet guided my own, instructing me where to go.
A smile grew on my face as the song sped up, sending a feeling of exhilaration through my body. As the music changed, I stumbled over my feet a lot, accidentally crushing his toes, but he didn't seem to mind.
As the song continued, he let go of one my hands, twirling my body around his. A small giggle escaped past my lips, causing his smile to stretch into a grin. I stumbled again as he pulled me back to where I was before, the alcohol in my blood hindering my balance.
"Oh, fuck," I cursed, as I tripped over his feet ending an inch too close to his face.
Instantaneously, his smile curved into a smirk, causing my eyes to flicker down to his lips. My breath hitched in response; my skin tingling at our proximity. I couldn't tear my gaze away from his lips, shadowed under the dim lights of his dining room.
Hesitantly, I leaned forward, and pressed my lips against his.
