The bell conveniently rang as I stepped outside of the main office. Math was, fortunately, my last subject of the day, so I was now free to escape this hellhole. Fixing the strap of my bag, I pushed open the door of the main entrance, sighing as the cool autumn air greeted me. I felt my body relax as I pushed my growing problems to the back of my mind, letting the fresh air claim me.

However, my reprieve was short lived, because as I made my way to my car, I saw a tall figure leaning against it, impatiently tapping their foot against the broken asphalt.

"Rhys?" I asked, furrowing my eyebrows.

"Nara," he sighed as his eyes found mine. His tensed posture relaxed immediately, causing confusion to stir in my mind.

"What're you doing here?" I questioned, stepping forward to unlock my car. It croaked out as I pressed the unlock button shakily, a surprising sense of nervousness spreading through me.

"Who is he?" he replied, anger clouding in his voice. I could tell who he was talking about instantly; his rage-consumed eyes and his restless expression didn't leave many choices.

"Leon? He's just an old friend," I shrugged, attempting to appear nonchalant as I opened my car door. I didn't want to hurt him by telling him the truth, even though the words felt bittersweet in my mouth.

"Just a friend?" Rhys retorted, misplaced jealousy apparent in his eyes. His expressions sent euphoria through me, filling me with a longing I hadn't felt for a long time.

"Careful, Rhys, someone might think that you're jealous," I laughed, trying to diffuse some of the tension hanging between us. It didn't seem to work, because in response, he took a dangerous step towards me, his green eyes raging with ferocity. In one quick motion, he had me pressed up against my car, his hands holding my arms in place.

"So what if I am?" he breathed out unevenly, his hot breath lingering near my exposed ear. I felt a deep shudder run through my body, the feeling oddly similar to the one which the alcohol had given me all those years back.

Electricity buzzed through my veins, connecting at my heart instead of my clouded brain. I felt reason leave my body, replaced by pure want.

Desire.

His proximity rendered my restraint useless as his lips pressed up against mine.
