"Nara, I'm like really sorry for your loss,"  Britney announced grimly, catching the attention of everyone in the crowded hallway. I repressed the dramatic eye roll, and slammed my locker door shut. The hard contact between the door and my locker rang through the hallway, now silent in anticipation.

"Thanks," I mumbled, straightening my posture, and turning to head towards the doors that led to the parking lot. I didn't feel like getting into a confrontation today; my body was sore and my brain felt hollow.

"Freak," she called out behind me, her voice edging on desperation, "no wonder you don't have any friends. You scare them all off!"

I stopped abruptly, my mind absorbing her statements and attempting to push them to the back of my mind. I ground my teeth together to suppress doing something I would regret, but anger burned through my veins, no longer under my control. I was tired of everyone just watching me, waiting for me to snap. I took a deep breath in in response, and turned around coolly.

"Britney," I called out, my voice deadly calm.

"Yeah?" she asked, her eyebrow arching mockingly.

"Watch your back."
