"Who was that?" Rhys asked, his eyebrows furrowed. I pursed my lips as I stepped back into the principal's office, unsure of how to reply to Rhys' question.

"An old student," the principal answered, as I threw him a grateful smile, "he moved away a year ago. Right before you moved here, actually."

"Oh," Rhys nodded, an indescribable emotion still churning in his green eyes.

"Nara, I have to speak with you now," the principal told me, gesturing for me to sit down in the seat opposite from his. Rhys nodded again, getting up to leave the room.

"I need to talk to you," Rhys whispered as he passed me. But as I looked back, his face betrayed no emotion. I nodded although he was already gone, and sat on the chair that had been previously occupied by Rhys.

"Nara, I want to start by saying that I'm impressed by your remarkable improvement," Mr. T told me, earning a dark eye roll.

"Can you just tell me whatever it is you need to tell me?" I snapped, folding my legs on top of his desk.

"Of course," he cleared his throat, "Leon has decided to finish his senior year here."
