Chapter 21

Katy

The car ride with me being forced to sit in the back while my dad sat shotgun as Justin drove was just excruciatingly long and unpleasant. Having enough of sitting and the increasing need to pee, I asked Justin to pull into the nearest convenience store.

Smiling at me, he does what I asked of him and as soon as the car comes to a stop I immediately open my door and rush to the restroom. When I was done doing what I had to do, I left the small cubicle and washed my hands before heading to an isle where I could find ice cream. After picking my favourite flavour I head to check out, only to find Justin waiting for me with his own items already paid for.

"Hey," he smiled taking items from out of my hands and onto the counter.

"Hey. Thank you -" I was cut off by my dad calling me from outside. After facing Justin who gave me a slight nod of approval, I sprinted out the store to where my dad was.

"Yes dad?"

"Katy get in the car," he demanded, opening the driver's side for himself.

"What? Dad, what is going on? Why do I have to get in the car right now and I thought Justin was driving?" I was beyond confused at that moment.

"Katy, do not question me and get in the car!" I knew that I could not go against him when he used that tone so I obliged.

"Do you not see what kind of a man Justin is, Katy? It is not even right, in the first place, to be referring to your 'boyfriend' as a man but that's what he is; a man and you are a child, Katy. That man has been brainwashing you and feeding you things that a child should not be exposed to. Do you know that he told me that he only wants you because of my company and money? How sick is that?"

When my dad said that, my mind tuned him out as an escape plan surfaced. I looked to my side to see many tall trees that I could hide in so my dad would possibly not find me and I began to unlock my door. My dad was so into his head as he continued ranting about Justin that he did not notice my door opening and my body jumping out of the car.

I stood up without dusting myself as I stopped rolling. Running as fast as my short legs could, I started yelling out for Justin. I shouted and ran at the same time even though I knew that I'd be hurting soon.

"Katy! Katy, I'm coming for you, baby girl!" I finally heard. The sound of his panicked voice brought relief to my fastbeating heart.

In a matter of seconds I could feel my lungs being void of air and my feet buckling. As my body was about to hit the ground, I felt my weight being lifted off of my feet. Opening my eyes, I looked up into grey ones that I could tell belonged to my mate. I smiled weakly and he whispered telling me to go to sleep, and that's exactly what I did.
