Feel Like Blah

Mitch's POV:

I anxiously await Ashley's call. I'm pretty sure she has pneumonia, she was out in the rain for way too long that night. As for her ankle, I hoped it wasn't a break, but I knew she would probably have to be on crutches for a while. Good thing we have an elevator at the house. (They actually do)

I know Tara must hate me, but I can't really blame her. I mean, I haven't even met the girl yet and I've already put her sister in the hospital, flirted with another girl right in front of Ashley's face, which must've hurt way more considering her past with boyfriends, and not even had the decency to explain to her what was going on. I would've, but Ashley specifically asked me not to, so I respected that and kept quiet.

Just then, I hear my phone ring. I scramble to get it out of my pocket, and don't even check to see who it is before answering.

"Hello?" I say anxiously.

"Hey, it's me." Ashley says on the other line.

Mitch: "So what did the doctor say?"

Ashley: "Well, my ankle is sprained, and I'll be needing crutches for a week in order to let it heal. I am terribly sick, although by some miracle I don't have pneumonia. Apparently you got me just in time."

Mitch: "Really? That's great! Not that you're sick, but that you don't have pneumonia. That would be worse." *laughs nervously*

Ashley: "Yeah...I wouldn't want to get surgery. But all the same, I'm not going to be able to do much at all. He's putting me on all types of medication and I have to stay in bed all day. I can travel from place to place, but no staying outside. I can't drive either. Obviously."

Mitch: "Well that sucks. Am I allowed to see you or did Tara put a restraining order on me?"

Ashley: "Yes. It's not up to Tara whether you see me or not. But I'm not quite sure it's such a great idea, however much I want to, because I'll probably get you sick."

Mitch: "Come on, nothing is going to stop me from coming. Better men and sicknesses have tried. They failed."

Ashley laughs, but it turns into a cough.

"You ok?" I hear Tara ask in the background.

"Okay, you can come over if you must. But don't make me laugh like that you butt!" she says.

"Fine, but I can't help it if I'm so hilarious." I say in a funny voice.

"Mmhmm. Well, I'll see you at..?" she trails off, so I finish it for her.

"Six?" I suggest.

"Yeah. I'll see you at six then. Bye." she says.

"Bye." I mutter as I hang up.

Ashley's POV:

"So was that your oh-so-special boyfriend?" Tara asks, gripping the driving wheel tighter. We had finally gotten out of the hospital with my crutches, and now she was driving me home.

"Yes, that was Mitch." I say, glaring at her. "You don't have to address him that way."

"And he didn't have to start flirting with that girl at the bar." she mumbles, and it feels like a stab to the heart. I feel tears spring to my eyes, and I'm quiet until she sighs.

"I'm sorry, okay? I just hate seeing you like this. How can I know your safe with him after all that's happened?" she says. This time I sigh.

"I already told you. If it weren't for Mitch, I would be in worse condition than I already am. Might I remind you that it was he who took me from the fire while I was paralyzed, and he who gave me place to stay for the night. He was also the one to search for half and hour in the pouring rain to find my drunk ass and bring me home!" I say angrily.
