Hello there you wonderful people! Happy New Year! I know this is a bit late for that xD But, I hope you enjoy this slightly fluffy little thing :) Hope the new year is amazing for all of you! Please let me know what you think!!

As most things tended to go when Newt and his creatures were involved, the day had not gone as planned at all. It was the last day of the year and the both of you hadn't planned much of anything, besides tending to all the beasts and giving them a little something special. As for the two of you, you'd decided to just bring in the new year together, just the two of you. Neither of you were much for the raging parties everyone seemed to throw anyway, rather enjoy each other's company.

You were quite excited at the prospect of the new year, even though you knew it was just another day. But despite that fact you'd been a bit distracted when tending to the creatures and had managed to get stung by one of the billywigs. You didn't blame it of course, it was your own fault after all. After that you'd slowly began to feel the effects of the sting, dizzily making your way to Newt.

"N-newt," you managed to get out, holding onto your head and stumbling towards him.

"Yes (Y/N)?" he asked, not looking away from the bowtruckles he was tending to.

When you didn't reply as he expected, he looked up to see you swaying with your head held in your hands.

"Oh Merlin!" he exclaimed, rushing towards you, "what happened, love?"

You leaned into him as he held on to you, still holding your head, a wave of nausea starting to pass over you.

"I g-got stung," you said, with some difficulty, "by one of the billywigs."

"Oh, it was Charlie wasn't it?" Newt said, "that little bugger loves to get into trouble," he shook his head, slightly amused.

"No," you snapped your head up to quickly, squeezing your eyes from the dizziness.

"Careful, love," Newt said, soothingly rubbing his hand along your back, "No need to rush, take your time."

"I-it wasn't his fault, he wasn't being mischievous," you slowly but surely got out, "I just wasn't being careful."

Newt wrapped his arms around you tighter, smiling tenderly, heart filled with warmth at how quick you were to come to Charlie's defense.

"Alright, I won't scold him too much then," Newt said to you with a hint of sarcasm.

"Good," your voice was muffled by the fact that you were resting your head in the crook of his neck.

"Let's get you to the shed so we can take care of this," Newt said wrapping one of your arms around his shoulder and wrapping his around your waist.

You leaned all of your weight into him, still managing to blush a bit even in your current state. The two of you tried to make your way towards the shed but were making very little progress.

"At this rate it'll be the new year before we make it inside," Newt said, he stopped walking and you stopped with him. Before you could reply he bent down and picked you up in both of his arms.

You let out a small squeak, not expecting that and Newt let out an amused chuckle.

"Sorry, love," he apologized, smiling down at you.

"It's a-alright," you said, another wave of dizziness passing over you.

Once in the shed Newt carefully sat you down on the chair. He grabbed one of the many bottles he had lined up, popping off the lid and pouring out one white tablet onto his hand. He then charmed water into a cup. He turned towards you handing both to you.

"The pill should take care of the dizziness, not much I can really do about the floating, once it starts," he said, turning around and starting the process of making a paste, "we'll just have to wait for it to pass. I can take care of the swelling on the sting in the meantime."

The dizziness and nausea subsided very quickly after you swallowed the pill. Feeling much more like yourself you stood up from the chair.

"How soon do you think that'll start?" You asked, the excitement evident in your voice.

Newt looked over at you with an amused smile, "There's no way to say for sure, because the sting affects everyone differently. But, according to my calculations, you should start feeling it right about... now."

On cue, you slowly felt yourself rising above the ground.

"Oh my goodness, Newt!" You exclaimed, gripping onto his shoulder until you felt you were steady.

"You're lucky you were only stung once, (Y/N). Too much and you'd be floating perpetually."

Newt had finished up the paste, and turned towards you. You were now right at eye level with him.

"I'm as tall as you!"

"That you are," he replied, grinning, " only temporarily though."

"I quite like this," you replied, turning in a circle, "it's so much better!"

"Oh, you say that now. But it isn't always so great," he watched you turn towards him, "Now, let's get the wound taken care of."

He brushed your hair aside, applying the paste to the side of your neck. His eyes briefly met yours and he gave you his lopsided half smile. Your cheeks had flushed, as they usually did when you were in close, intimate proximity with Newt.

"And that's done," Newt said, turning back to his desk and wiping his hand clean. His eyes glanced over at the clock in the corner of his desk. Neither of you had been keeping track of time and the clock had just struck twelve.

"It's midnight." Newt said, turning towards you, "We completely lost track of time, didn't we?"

You smiled, sheepishly, "That we did."

Newt slowly brushed your hair behind your ear, cupping your cheek. His eyes full of warmth and love.

"Happy new year, (Y/N)" he closed the distance between the two of you, you meeting him half way. The both of you enjoyed each other for a few moments, pulling away you two smiled at each other.

"That was much easier than it usually is," you stated, laughing, "you're much too tall, some of the time."

Newt chuckled softly, "Your not that much shorter than I am, (Y/N). Maybe... we should have Charlie sting you a bit more then."

"Newt!" you exclaimed, trying to float away but laughing along with him as he pulled you closer.
