That night was WWE Payback. As Dean and Roman were doing a little bit of workout at the backstage, Seth roamed about the area they were at, observing Roman and Dean how focused they were in their work.

Seth walked towards the COO's office again as Hunter had told him there was something he needed to talk to him about. Seth's heart was thumping beneath his chest, he didn't know what Hunter was up to this time. Hunter showed up a minute after Seth reached his office as he was away talking to the creative at his room. "Ah, here you are. Sit down." said Hunter as he walked over to his own seat and sat down. Seth wished him a good evening before he sat down as well.

"You can calm down, Rollins, as I'm not going to ask you anything about your personal life like I did when we had talked to each other last time." said Hunter smiling whereas Seth released a sigh of relief.

"Well, I'm sorry about that," Hunter added.

"It's okay," said Seth quietly.

"Shall I tell you what, Seth, after hours and hours of talking and discussing, me as well as the other creative directors here have finally come to a conclusion. And therefore, here's an offer for you." said Hunter in his usual calm and relaxed manner, sliding a contract on the table over onto Seth's direction.

Seth looked at the contact and listened to Triple H as he continued, "We have always been planning to promote you individually as we're very much impressed with all of your in ring activities. Yes, you've been the tag team champion before and that's a huge thing you've accomplished while you're a part of The Shield but... once you're all on your own, you get the chance to be the top dog in this company. You get the chance to win the Money In The Bank contract, cash it in and become the WWE Champion. In short... You make more money."

Seth could not believe it was really happening. Jericho was very correct about what he thought Triple H was going to do next. Seth started to read the conditions mentioned in the contract and found the same thing to be written in there. Triple H got his back off his lie back and leaned closer to the table. "Once you sign this contract, you're gonna be the top guy in the business and there's nothing anyone can do about it. I swear I'm not lying. This is what The Authority promises you." said Triple H with his usual smile, which seemed villainous to Seth.

Seth stood up from his seat as he said, "What are you talking about? I'm not going to sign this contract."

"Think about it once again, my boy," said Triple H clicking his tongue.

"Yes, I need opportunities and I'll wait for them. I'm not gonna take the shorter way out and backstab my brothers for that. Thanks, but no thanks... Triple H." said Seth. He turned back and walked out of the office.

***Flashback ends***

That night was one of the hardest nights for The Shield even though they came out victorious and The Evolution got the worst of it. It was hard for the three of them to overcome the brutal assaults they faced from their opponents Triple H, Randy Orton and Batista. But they made it after they had wrestled them for about thirty minutes. Roman was without a vest and his body was bruised at places after the match. Dean's body was all limp and he coughed all his way out of the arena. Seth had a black eye and that looked really terrible. Roman lifted Dean up in his arms carried him to the backstage. Seth was limping too and he walked along with them holding Dean's hand for support. The cameras captured them as they celebrated their victory at the backstage together.

The three men reached their hotel room late at night. They were more tired than happy. They shared a group hug once again before Roman and Dean walked into the bathroom to get a shower together. Seth collapsed on the bed as he already had taken a shower at the building where the PPV event took place.
