I pack my bags because we are set to leave for Manila in the morning. No call, no text, nothing. I was already sure that our little deal was already off and that was the last time Richard and I are going to see each other. A knock from my door, and I open it to see Richard standing outside.
"Maine..."
My emotions are all over the place. Sad, mad, confused.
"Bullshit."
I slam the door and continue to pack my bags. There was an overwhelming guilt, but after all this time, I have lowered my wounded ego of missed calls and unanswered texts. This was too much. I don't deserve this, Richard. What did I even do to you? Now you show up when I'm about to leave?
My hotel phone rings and I pick it up.
"Best!" Alden calls me by our newly-formed nickname. Something we decided to call ourselves due to our new closeness.
"Yeah? What's up?"
I check the time on my watch. 2 am. It's been 3 hours since I left Richard outside my door.
"Di mo pa ba papapasukin si Richard?" He asks me and suddenly I feel the guilt again.
"Paano mo alam?"
"I was on my way to my room and he's just outside your door waiting. So we talked for a while and he's still outside."
"About?"
"He asked if I had feelings for you so that he'll back out daw since he doesn't want to ruin the "love team" or career you're building. Baka daw distraction siya. Of course sabi ko wala and that we're comfortable and that you're not awarded best actress multiple times for nothing. Apparently, he got jealous because it seemed so real. He made a mistake daw. Sabi ko, hindi ba mabilis na you know..." he hesitates for a bit, afraid that what he might say comes out judgmental. "...na you guys barely see each other, ldr, and stuff... but then he said that he knew from the moment he met you, you'd be special... Dali na. Pansinin mo na kasi. Kinikilig ka naman eh!"
"Huh?" I try to hide my reddening cheeks as if he can see it. "Di ah. Eh... I... I'm sorry Alden pero magagalit ka ba if ever I date him? I mean shempre this is a love team."
"Best!" He exclaims... "bakit ako magagalit? I can't stop what your heart wants. If I need to cover up for you I'd do it because you've done a lot for me like keeping my secret."
"Sige. I'll call you back, Den!"
I turn the knob, and I open the door to find him sitting against the wall. His eyes were closed. God, he looks hot and awful at the same time. I nudge him and he wakes up.
"Maine..." he looks up.
"Stand up."
"I'm sorry."
"Is it that hard to keep in touch? To tell me why you left?"
"I'm sorry. I was confused. I was jealous. This all happening too fast."
"And what!? You-"
I was about to retaliate and argue when he cuts me off with a kiss on my lips and I close my eyes. I can't believe this is happening. Wait lang, my heart!
"And I wanted to be the one to kiss you that night."
I bury my face in his chest to hide the kilig. This was way too fast, but it feels right. He hugs me tighter and I want to stay this way with him until we have to part ways again.
