"Hey! The fireworks are this way!" Nagisa pulls my arm towards a crowded hill.
"Na-"
"I know you don't like being around so many people but I'm right here. I'll protect you."
"I don't want to need your protection."
"It's fine. Sit." He plops himself down, still holding my hand. I sit slowly, looking around as I sink. Everybody is sitting in pairs? What? Why...? I try to listen to other conversations.
"Do you think somebody will say something?"
"No. Look there's itona and Terasaka. Oh! Nagisa and Karma. We'll be fine." Someone whispers. Look towards the voice to see Maehara pinning Isogai to a tree. Since when are they together?
"I-if you're nervous I could just kiss your cheek..."
"Sure... Thanks..." Okuda sets her head on Kayano's shoulder. Kisses? This is about kissing?!
"I found another shooting game. Here." I look directly in front of us to see Chiba handing Hayami a BB gun. "So you can practice at home."
"Funny, I got you one too." They swap with a few little laughs. Everyone is paired up with someone they like. Is that why Nagisa dragged me over here? I mean, the whole class is paired up. Why though?
"Karma! Are you even looking at the fireworks?" Nagisa pulls on my sleeve.
"Yea. Of course." I smile quickly. Ok. Lets test my theory. I move a little closer to him, so we are on the verge of touching. He notices but doesn't mind. This time I put my arm around his waist. He scoots closer to me and puts his head on my shoulder. Holy shit he does like me. Fuck I think I like him too.
"Nuehehe Karma~ You getting all blushy over your New Years kiss? Hmmmmm?" Korosensei zooms by. NEW YEARS WHAT?! Nagisa looks away, the tips of his ears gone red.
"Did you plan this, Nagisaaa~?" I whisper, watching as he tenses up.
"U-um maybe?"
"How?"
"W-well I know you never really did much for New Years... but I thought you would know what happens at midnight. You seemed okay with it." He tries backing away. I hold him closer.
"What happens at midnight?" I keep confusion out of my voice.
"W-well... you're supposed to have a New Years kiss." He smiles weakly.
"Oh. So you chose me?" I smirk. He nods in response.
"Ten." Everybody shouts together. "Nine." I look at Nagisa who started shouting along. "Eight!" I join in. "Seven! Six! Five! Four! THREE! TWO! ONE!!" Everybody cheers as a large set of fire works spell out 2017 in the sky. People around us start leaning into their partners. I don't get to turn to look at him before I'm jumped on. I kiss back and sit up.
"New years resolution: Get a boyfriend." I whisper into Nagisa's neck.
"Well you can check that off your list right now." He hugs me tighter. Yep. This is gonna be a good year.
