"Attempted. Murder." I whisper to my small group. This gets their attention.
"Care to elaborate?"
"This is my new favorite, Shiota Nagisa. He is in here on attempted murder charges. And guess what! There are 'others'."
"BULLSHIT."
"It's true! C'mon, tell 'em!"
"U-uhm ok...Maybe thirteen..." He stops, squinting at the ground, thinking.
"Thirteen years ago?"
"No, thirteen murders. I might be off by a few though. But hey, that's what assassins do. Caught in the act is really how I got here." He shuffles his feet, watching the floor like he's hoping it's going to fall away at any moment.
"No need to be embarrassed. Sometimes we get caught, that's how things just play out." I wrap an arm around his shoulder, pulling him close.
"Ooo~ you make a cute couple."
"Eeeew keep your PDA out of here."
"Get a room, lovebirds."
"Guys!" I snap, though, as I'm about to let go, I realize Nagisa has grabbed onto my arm.
"Don't shout." He lets out a breathy whisper, terror evident in his blank stare.
"Sorry." I bend over, so our faces are closer. "I didn't mean to scare you. You okay?"
"Peachy." He smiles, ruffling my hair.
"What a good actress." I push him away, laughing a little at his believable performance.
"Oh not you too."
