Blood Diamonds: Chapter 3
~Charnae P.O.V.~
The weekend couldn't have gone by any slower. I swear I felt like I was just laying around watched the clock tick as I wasted away my 2 days away from school. For some reason I felt so anxious to be back at school.
"Bye Dad! I'll be home later!" I yelled as I scrambled out the door. Even though I couldn't wait to get to school I managed to wake up extremely late. I was in a simple pair of white high waist shorts, a red tank top, tucked under my shorts, black loose cardigan sweater, combat boots and a red bow that tied my hair up in a bun. It was again going to be another random hot day during spring so I might as well be prepared for the heat that was to come later on.
I got in my car and took a second to make sure I had everything I needed. I felt like I did so I put my key in the ignition and the car roared to life. As it was warming up, I took out my favorite bright red lipstick and carefully dragged the stick across my bottom lip, trailing behind a soft light layer of red. I pressed my lips together to spread the color then smiled into my rear view mirror to make sure the color spread evenly. I felt content and began making the drive to my school.
I arrived and saw everyone was already in class. I didn't see any of the usual students hanging around their cars or on the picnic tables. That's just great. I'm late for first period. I was for sure going to get an after school detention the second I walked into my history class.
I let out a sigh before grabbing my bag and binder. I cut off the engine and got out of the car where I was greeted with a sharp cold breeze that stung my legs.
I walked into the warm halls as quickly as I could. I looked down the hall and it was clear as could be. I walked down towards my locker with my steps echoing behind me.
I got to my locker and was struggling to get the lock.
Why me?
I kept trying to fidget with this stupid lock but each time it wouldn't work. I was freaking out because every minute I spent trying to get the lock was just another minute that made me more late.
"Need help?" A voice said. I was startled a little bit. I turned around and was greeted by the welcoming smirk that was plastered on Travie's face. He looked so good. A black long sleeve shirt layered underneath a red vest that he kept open, exposing his chains that hung loosely around his neck and dropped down to his chest. His jeans that sagged just low enough but not too low- "Hello?" He asked as he snapped his fingers next to my ear.
"Oh-"
"I saw you couldn't keep your eyes off. I got that affect." He said so smoothly with a wink that nearly gave me the chills. Why does he do that to me?
"Anyways, yeah I do need help." I said completely avoiding his comment.
"What's your combo?" He rose an eyebrow and he took the lock from my hand. His touch left a warm imprint and I couldn't help but blush. "Don't worry, I won't memorize your combination and steal your stuff." He laughed lightly
"I wasn't worried about that." I said back just a little irritated. "But; 36, 10, 2." He nodded his head and after one try, sure enough his experts opened my locker.
"There you go. So why aren't you in class?" He asked as he leaned up against the locker next to mine.
"Thank you. I got up late and now I'm here. What about you?" I was kind of nervous around him. I didn't know him all that well and from what I've been told he isn't the greatest guy in the world.
"I don't usually go to first. It's boring to me." From the corner of my eye I noticed him spin around his diamond earring that accented his ear. "You wanna grab breakfast since we both clearly aren't going back to our first classes?" Didn't he already have a girlfriend?
