Sarah Ruth is a simple girl with a simple life. She has never been one to show off, or try to come out on top. She'd rather stay hidden in the shadows of her school, and her life. The only person she feels comfortable with is her best friend, Corey Haim. He's sweet to her, he's caring. They can tell each other anything, and that's enough to put a smile on Sarah Ruth's face. Besides Corey, she has her books, her art, her imagination. Sarah spends more time thinking about a different world then living in the one she's already in.

"Ms. Johnson," Sarah's eyes flicker to the front of the classroom. She forgot she was here, she was too busy thinking about which one of her new books she wanted to read when she got home. "Y-Yes?" Sarah Ruth stutters out her response. She doesn't like talking in front of people, let alone a whole classroom. All eyes are on her, she can see the popular girls whispering, letting out giggles afterwards.

"Would you like to repeat what I just said?" Her teach asks her, she hates Mr. Moore, he's constantly calling her out. Trying to make a fool out of her. "No," Sarah Ruth answers bluntly. A look of shock washes over Mr. Moore's face, priceless, she thinks. "Excuse me?" Sarah doesn't feel the need to repeat herself, so she stays silent. Looking at him with a stare that almost goes right through him.

Right when he was going to continue, the bell rings. Everyone gathers their things and rushes out the door. Sarah is always the last one to go, she's never in a rush. There's no reason to rush. "Sarah Ruth, can I have a word with you?" She bites her lip to stop herself from letting out an annoyed huff. Sarah Ruth doesn't answer, just walks up to the desk he is sitting at. She looks at him, waiting for him to say something. Sarah presses her books to her chest, and taps her foot on the floor.

"I'm tired of you not paying attention in my class," Mr. Moore says. Well maybe if it wasn't such a bore I would.
Once again, Sarah Ruth says nothing. Finding no interest in the conversation. It's happened many times, he holds her after class, she doesn't give a shit, and it's over. There's no point in it. If this wasn't her 7th period class Sarah Ruth would always decline to talk to him, but she has not reason to. It's the end of the day, no hurrying to another class. And since he knows Sarah Ruth isn't a bus rider, there's no worry in her missing the way home.

Sarah Ruth tries her best to not show how annoyed she is, but she's failing. "Just go," Mr. Moore says, his hand waving in the air in the direction of the door. Sarah Ruth hurried into the hallway, bumping into people, not giving a shit if they happen to fall. Corey didn't show at school today, which isn't new. He tends to skip class quit a lot, and most of the time gets away with it. Monday's is when he skips the most, so no wonder he's not here.

She throws her binder into her locker, not caring if it's messy. Once she's at the front of the school, Sarah Ruth hurries to walk home. She usually, basically always, never rushes. But Sarah Ruth saw four girls who make her life more hell full when she got out. They were already walking towards her with smiles on their faces and cigarettes between their fingers. One of them was the girl that her best friend seems to be madly in love with, and that's the one Sarah Ruth hated the most. Missy Clayton was her name, and who cares about the other three. All they do is stand their laughing while Missy does all the pointless talking.

It doesn't take long for them to catch up with Sarah Ruth. "Hello Sarah Ruth," Missy says. Sarah Ruth does her absolute best to not cringe at the sound of her voice. She keeps walking, ignoring Missy. "Hey bitch I said your name," I know you said my name you cunt.
Two hands make contact with Sarah Ruth's back, causing her to fall forwards. She lands on her knees, surely skinning them up. "Shit," Sarah Ruth mumbles. They all laugh before walking away, what even was the point of that?

Sarah Ruth stands back up, catching her balance. Her knees ache the rest of the walk home, blood seeping out of the cuts. The stinging sensation is brining tears to her eyes. Sarah Ruth has always been sensitive, crying at the smallest things. When she can't go to the book store because it's raining, she cries a bit. It's just in her nature.

She winces as she has to bend her knees in order to walk up the stairs in her house. Her body crashes down onto her bed, taking s deep breath as her eyes close. "Sarah Ruth!" Her eyes burst open when she hears her favorite voice, Corey Haim. Corey and Sarah Ruth have lived next to each other for the past six years. She smiles and walks over to her window, opening it the rest of the way, then in comes Corey. In between their two house is a tree, and it just so happens to help them get to each other's rooms. Tons of falls and slips happened before they learned how to do it with ease.

"Hey Corey," Sarah Ruth says. Her eyes just light up at the sight of him in front of her. She remembers when she was taller than Corey, but now he's grown. And she's plain stopped. "Woah, what happened there?" He asks, referring to the knee scratches. "Oh, I fell," Its half true. He nods, not asking anymore questions. "Guess what?" He asks in his excited type voice. "What is it now?" She asks, trying to act annoyed. But Sarah Ruth is always interested in what Corey has to say to her.

"So today, Missy-" Sarah Ruth's smile goes away. She doesn't like when he talks about her. She has never understood why he likes her so much, all she is is a bitch. "Missy was put in my lab group, and she told me I was cute," The smile on Corey's face is amazing. But she wishes Missy wasn't the cause of it. Sarah Ruth just gives him a small smile, not asking for details.

Sarah Ruth grabs a book and opens it, reading on the page she left off on. "You don't want to know more?" He asks. She shakes her head. "Thought you would be a little happy for me," Corey states. Sarah Ruth looks up at him, and he's rolling his eyes. "She called you cute, big deal. She'll say anything to get into your pants. Missy was all over a boy this afternoon in the front of the school." Cory scoffs. It was true, this afternoon before she got pushed Missy had her arms wrapped around a boy named Johny- something. She can't recall his last name, or care to try.

"Not true," Corey states. "Yes true, why can't you see how much of a slut she is!" Corey's eyes go wide, and by this time Sarah Ruth gotten off her bed and Is standing close to Corey. Trying to get through to him. "Take it back," He says. She shakes her head. "Take it back!" He repeats, this time louder. Corey takes a quick and hard step forward, his chest hitting Sarah Ruth's.

She gasps as she falls on her back. "Ouch," she says, while rubbing the back of her head. "Oh my god Sarah-" "Leave." Corey is taken back by her words. "I want you out of my room, now." Sarah has never told Corey to get out, or to leave. So he has a reason to be a bit shocked at her words. He stands there frozen. Sarah Ruth gets up and points at the window, "Get out!" Corey rushes to the window, and across the tree back into his own home. He watches her through her window as she slams it shut, and yanking the curtains to a close.

Before she can even stop it, tears are coming out of her eyes.
