Three days ago, I lost someone very close to me.
It hurts like hell, but I can't let it get to me.
Writing makes me feel better, so I'm not going anywhere. Not that it's important, just letting you guys know :)
And then two days ago my teacher caught me cheating on a test. I usually don't cheat, like ever, but I panicked because I didn't study. Caught up in death, great times. And I had to rat out who gave me the answers, and now I've lost a friend.
•••Sarah Ruth had asked Corey to leave that Wednesday, even though she really didn't want to be alone. But she also didn't want Corey to see this weird, crazy side of her that she can't even explain to herself. She's never imagined someone, who's dead, in front of her so vividly. "Sarah Ruth, are you awake?" Her dad asks from the other side of the door. "Yes sir," she says slowly while rubbing her eyes.
Today was Friday, the day she promised her father she'd return to school. "There's some waffles laying on the counter, I'm going to head to work. If you want to wait till Monday sweetheart, you can." She doesn't answer, but her dad knows she heard him. He leaves, and she continues to lay in bed. "I don't wanna go," she mumbles to herself.
Sarah Ruth groans and forces herself out of bed. She hears something down stairs, but knows for a fact her dad is already gone. "Ignore it," she whispers. She puts on a white tank top, denim jacket, and a pink skirt. Sarah Ruth looks at herself in the mirror, she's doesn't look all that good. Her face is pale, and there are bags under her eyes. "Zombie Sarah Ruth," she says with a fake smile before brushing her hair.
The walk to school is almost suffocating. Thinking about what people are going to say, think, do, it's all too much for her. But she knows that hiding from your problems only seems to make them worse. When her eyes land on the tons of students flooding into the school, her stomach forms a even bigger pit.
She picks up her pace to catch up with the rest. Sarah Ruth is dreading seeing Corey, she isn't sure what to say to him. Her heart drops when she sees Missy walking her way with a smile. Not right now, Sarah Ruth begs in her mind. Missy stands in front of her with a almost proud smile.
"You've been ditching school ever since the incident, did I really hurt you that bad?" Sarah Ruth knits her eyebrows together in confusion before shaking her head rapidly. "Yeah sure," Missy scoffs. The hatred Sarah Ruth has for that girl grows every time she opens her mouth. Thankfully, Missy walks away.
The understanding for why that girl doesn't like Sarah Ruth is a mystery, well, to Sarah Ruth. Missy doesn't like her because the perfect in Missy's eyes, she thinks everything in Sarah Ruth's life never goes wrong. And she's jealous. If only she knew the truth.
Sarah Ruth has trouble focusing throughout her first class. The thought of imagining her mother in that class room worried her to death. And when then bell rang it was a relief, that was until she remembered who's in her second class. Missy and Corey.
His eyes almost pop out when Corey sees Sarah Ruth walk through that classroom door. Missy notices, jealousy taking over her. She has been trying to win him back for the past month, but nothing has seemed to work. Missy did have real feelings for Corey, and that's the reason she left him. She had never dealt with love, and it scared her. So her solution was to leave him. Bad idea.
Missy walks fast towards Corey, then blocks his view of Sarah Ruth. "There's a party this Saturday at my place, want to come?" His blue eyes look at her beyond confused, that seems to be the way he's felt for the past month. Confused.
Not confused with feelings, confused on why Missy wouldn't leave him the hell alone. "I'll pass." He says this kindly, but it does trigger Missy. Corey jumps up from his seat, brushing past her without a thought. His eyes are set on Sarah Ruth.
He hugs her, and she hesitates. Her arms and books are pinned against her chest; she' left wondering why Corey is hugging her. "Uh, hi," she mumbles. Corey let's go, seeing her confused expression. She was still kinda embarrassed from what happened
last time Corey had seen her.Imagining things that aren't this isn't really something Sarah Ruth would like to tell Corey; not wanting him to think she's down right crazy. But Corey would never think that, he doesn't expect someone who just lost someone so important in their life to be completely sane.
As Corey stares at her deep in thought, Sarah Ruth does the same. This was until Missy decides to interrupt, once again; she never seems to stop. Her hand rests her hand on his shoulder, making Corey jump. Missy didn't even know what the hell she was going to say.
Some people just always feel as if eyes should be on them at all times. "I'm having a party this Saturday, wanna come?" "Already said no," Corey groans. A smirk takes over Missy's face. "Actually, I was asking Sarah Ruth." She is taken aback, surprised that she was being invited to a party. She had never been to one, well, besides those birthday parties you get invited to when you're younger; with pink strawberry cake and princess crowns.
You would think that Sarah Ruth would 100% not want to go, but a voice in her head is saying yes. She isn't sure why a part of her wants to say yes, probably because she wants to surprise and prove Missy wrong in a way. "She w-" "Yeah, I'll be there," Sarah Ruth says confidently, ignoring the wide eyed pale faced Corey Haim.
Missy knits her eyebrows together, she was hoping she'd say yes. "Great, I'll see you there." Corey gets goosebumps; he knows that she is up to something, and he doesn't want anything to happen to Sarah Ruth. Once she's gone, Corey doesn't hesitate to share his opinion.
"She's going to do something Sarah Ruth, something to embarrass you." As much as Sarah Ruth partly knows he true, she doesn't care. Her life is already sucky, and Corey is her only friend; and it's not like she's going to lose him. He would never leave her, no matter how much she would get embarked and possibly become the joke of the school.
"I don't care, but thank you for the concern Corey. And I would like you to come with me, don't want to be alone." If he says no, she'll end up begging. "I wouldn't let you go to a party without me." She smiles, then ruffles his hair. Just then, the bell rings, the starting of second class.
Sarah Ruth can't help but smile while she sits down. She's going to a party tomorrow, and Corey is going to be with her the whole time. "Good enough for me," she thinks.
