Sarah Ruth went the rest of the school day ignoring Corey. He didn't actually try to talk to her, but he planned on doing so when she was walking home. Corey still doesn't see how he's changing and how Missy is the main reason, and if he can't see that then Sarah Ruth isn't going to be in his future. Sarah Ruth is currently at her locker basically zoned out, all she can think about is Corey.
All she can think about is the expression on his face when she rejected his compassion. Corey was slowly breaking her down more and more and Sarah Ruth knew she couldn't be around some one like that. Even if it hurt even more to say goodbye. She comes back to reality and grabs her backpack before stuffing some books to read inside.
She throws the bag over her shoulders, then heads out of the school. When she exits through the back door, hands are gripping her wrist. She winces and they let go, "I barely touched you." She looks at him with a confused look, like, what do you want type. "It just scared me that's all," Sarah Ruth says. She's half telling the truth, that's as best as it gets. "Listen, we need to talk," she sees the look in his eyes, Sarah Ruth knows he'll end up begging her to listen. "No," she says. And his expression becomes sadder. "But-" "No," she repeats, cutting him off. "Better go get your girlfriend, she's got her hands on another one," Corey gives me a confused look before looking in the direction she's focusing on.
Missy has her arms wrapped around a random guys waist and is giving him that flirt look. Corey's blood boils as the boy whispers things into Missy's ear. "Now isn't she loyal," Corey gives her a death glare and she tilts her head a bit. This boy is going to get no where with her. But then she remembers hearing that she's coming over to his house tonight. Sarah Ruth's stomach has a huge uneasy feeling. She takes the chance as Corey is turned around to run away, to get away before he pushed there small talk any further.
Corey doesn't seem to notice, he's already walking towards the love of his life. Why can't he see she just wants to get in his pants?
Sarah Ruth wants to yell, she wants to scream. That's all she wants right now, to get her emotions out. And it's like someone's reading her mind because when she gets home, no ones there. She slams the front door and runs to her room, and she was about to yell. Then she hears some one knock on the door downstairs. Sarah Ruth holds back and walks downstairs. She looks through the glass part of the door and sees two men, both in some type of military uniform. Sarah Ruth opens the door and they greet her with a small smile, "Hi, is Mrs. Johnson or Mr. Johnson home at the moment?" Sarah shakes her head, but then her fathers car comes into the drive way. "Well, my dads here now," they nod as her dad gets out of the car. The look on his face is full concern, and Sarah Ruth is just confused. "What's going on?"
Sarah Ruth sits in her room, starring at the wall as tears stream down her face. She didn't understand at first why the men were here, but her father did. He already has tears in his eyes. And when they said her brother had died, Sarah Ruth was in complete shock. She has never had to deal with loosing some one close to her. There's a slight knock on her door, but she doesn't say anything. So it opens, and there stands her dad. He sits next to her on the bed and embraces her in a hug. Sarah Ruth cries even harder and he just hugs her tighter. After awhile her dad leaves, she doesn't want to talk. She just wants to be left alone.
Sarah Ruth suddenly hears laughter as more tears roll down her face. She gets up and walks over to her window, which is open. And so is Corey's, the laughter is coming from Corey's room. On his bed lays Missy Clayton, and Corey is lying beside her. There lips are attached and working against each other. Sarah Ruth's stomach ties up and more tears stream down her face. She grabs the top of her window and slams it shut, and it was loud. It caused Corey to sit up quickly at the loud noise. He catches a glimpse of Sarah Ruth's tear filled eyes before she yanks the curtains shut. Why is she crying?
Missy grabs his jaw with her fingers before pulling him back down to kiss her. Corey can't focus, all he can see is Sarah Ruth with tears in her eyes. All he can think about is what possibly is causing her to cry. Is it him? What happened?
Corey almost gasps when Missy's hand brushes against his crotch. He doesn't know if he's ready to lose his virginity, but he loves Missy. Right? Corey's mind starts racing, trying to think about what he loves. And the only face that's popping up is Sarah Ruth's.Sarah Ruth sits on her bed as the tears comes down harder. Her brother is gone, the boy she loves doesn't love her, and she has no friends. Sarah Ruth takes a deep breath and gets her journal from her desk.
Today has been hell, pretty much everyday is hell. I don't understand why things can ever go the way I want them to. I'm constantly crying, I'm constantly hurting. I just want to be happy, is that so hard to ask for? You only live once, and you should enjoy every second of it. Why can't I? Why am I always wishing I wasn't even put on this planet? All I want is to smile. I've forgotten what it's like to smile. And the feeling of wanting to is always there. Why is it all so hard?
