~This is a bit of a short, filler, resolution type chapter just to make everything run smoothly. -Z~
Chapter 4: Relief
You stood there for a second in the moonlight among the tall flowers. You were almost in a trance as you tried to comprehend everything that just happened.
What does he want me to help him with, exactly? Maybe I made that deal a little too hastily... Well at least he's patching up mom and dad. MOM AND DAD!
You shook yourself out of your trance, and, again, you ran. You scurried back through the forest, the light of the moon allowing you to find an actual path this time. You broke free from the treeline, found your bike on the side of your house, leaped onto the seat, and peddled as fast as you could to the hospital. It wasn't unreasonably far from your house, nothing in Gravity Falls was really that far. When at last you caught sight of the hospital, you were completely out of breath, but still you jogged up the steps. You pushed open the front doors with all of your might, and collided with Sheriff Blubs.
"Y/n! I've been lookin' for you everywhere! I knew I shouldn't have told you the news over the phone..."
"I-have.. To-see... them," you try to tell him through laboured breaths.
He grabs your arm, and leads you to the waiting area.
"I actually have some good news, darlin'," he explains as you take a seat. "Your folks are gonna make a full recov'ry! The doctors are all bewildered, and such. They thought your folks were goners for sure."
You shoot him a dirty look.
"Uh, but they're saying that it must have been love so strong that kept 'em alive. That's the only force that could have brought on a miracle," he says this and takes your hand. You smirk into your lap.
"Yeah i-it was something like that."
"Well either way, they're gonna have to be here for a few days, and you're not gonna be able to see them til visitin' hours tomorrow. So why don't I take you home, sos you can get some rest?"
"N-no, thank you. I would rather bike back home, and think things over," you said softly, getting up out of the seat. Blubs looked at you for a second and sighed.
"Alright, I guess I can't force you. Just promise me you'll call the station if you have any problems." You smiled, nodded, and left the hospital.
The ride home was peaceful. It was almost midnight, and town streets were deserted. The moon was high in the sky and illuminated your ride home when street lights were far and in between. The night air was crisp and refreshing. You took a lung full, and sighed
Today has been so-so surreal. Has this all been a dream? You let go of one of the handlebars and pinched your arm.
"Ow," you couldn't help but giggle at yourself.
Are you really laughing while your parents are in the hospital. How insensitive," you scolded yourself. But they are going to be okay, I might as well try to raise my spirits. For them.
At last you returned home, put your bike away, and went inside. You trudged up to your room, and changed into an over sized T-shirt.
"I'm going to marry my bed," you said aloud through a yawn. "I'm emotionally exhausted."
You crawled into bed, and pulled a light blanket over your head. Seconds later you were asleep.
All night you had fantastic dreams of the triangle man with a little top hat and a bow tie to match.
