"Bill... Bill please!" a man cried, screams filled the room... men shouting, a woman screaming... a child crying. There's a table where a woman sits rocking back and forth... back and forth. The walls are torn and rusty. The hard-worn carpet is damp and cold. A man is sitting on the bed with his hands in his hair... crying.
"Where's my money?" The man shouted. "Please stop!" the woman cried. Loud angry voices fought around the cold damp room. The scenes were the same but things weren't going in order. "Look at you, sweating till your next fix. I gave you the gear" the fat man shouted.
"Who's this?" he grinned looking at the small child that sat crying in the corner. She looked like a lost angel in the misted of all this hell. Scared and lonely she looked as the fat man walked over to her.
"Kate. Our Daughter" he looked at me... it was me, I was the small lost child that sat terrified in the corner.
"I'll have her" he pulled me hard into his side "She's mine now"
"Kate..." someone called out. I felt the nightmare fade out as I realised I was sleeping. "Kate... Wake Up!" a male groaned said next to me. Jake. My body went from complete fear to happiness of having him near.
I opened my eyes to see the hard, ripped chest that my head was laying on. I looked up to see Jake peering down at me, worried.
"Morning" he pulled me into his arms.
"Morning" I took a large breath in and stretched.
"Another nightmare?" he asked.
"Wasn't that bad this time" I replied enjoying his body heat, warming me up.
"I'm starting to think you haven't told me everything there is to know about your past" he was right.
We have been living together in Jake's flat in London for a few weeks now and a couple of days ago I finally told him about my foster family. What they were like, what they did to me and how I had to run away. I may have been a little light on the details but he had seen the scars and didn't care. I hadn't been honest about my real family, I just said that they didn't want me anymore and I was taken in by Bill and Tina before running away.
"I've told you more than I've told anyone" I looked up at his face.
I loved him so much, trusting him and believing in him was so much for me... but I couldn't tell him about them selling me to pay off a debt. I trusted him and knew he wouldn't think any worse of me but I guess I just haven't come to terms with it myself yet. I was shocked at how quickly I had fallen for this man. I didn't mind that he hadn't told me he loved me, I loved him enough for both of us and anyway I knew he loved me in his way. I didn't need words with Jake; he had always worked on actions. For what he's done for me so far after only two weeks shows his affections towards me. He's taken me into his home, a safe home that meant clean hot water, food and drink whenever I wanted it and there were no more cold nights.
He had helped me leave the club, Mike was so angry when he learnt what happened between Jay and I that threatens that if Jay didn't pay the rest of the money he would go to the press. Jake put him right by addressing the confidentiality in the contract and the fact that there was no way Mike would want reporters and maybe the police sniffing around his clubs. With all the dodgy dealings going on there. Also with the contract saying that the rest of the money meant to go to me anyway there was no money to be paid.
I was free of the place.
After many heated... conversations we came up with a compromise that Jake would help pay off my debts and pay for me to do this cooking course as a loan. I will be living at his rent-free and still work at Millie's café until I find a full-time job and can start paying him back.
