Jake

RING, RING. RING, RING.

"Hello?" I answered half asleep and half... sleep. I never understood why people phone you so early in the morning, yet again I don't get why I always answer.

"Hello honey, it's Mummy" Mummy? Did my Mother know I was thirty now. I pulled my pillow back over my head.

"Mum it's too early" I mumbled in my covers.

"Hun its ten-thirty, get your lazy but out of the bed and come over for lunch with the rest of the family" she demanded. One thing you need to learn about this woman, she maybe short and innocent looking but don't that looks deserve you. Little Irish women can do that to you but she's an evil little leprechaun that would bite your head off with one bite.

She would do what it takes to keep her family safe and happy which could be a treat and a trick, she'd do whatever she could for her children and treats them well but the moment she thinks their doing something risky she'll step right in and have her say. There was no getting rid of the woman.

"Jake have you fallen asleep on me son" she asked angry.

"No" I moaned into my pillow.

"Good. Then get out your bed and drive over here, Jay wants us to meet his new girlfriend"

That got me up!

"Girlfriend?" I asked making sure I heard her right.

"I know finally right. Anyway be here for one Jake. I mean it don't be late we need to leave for the Anderson week away."

"Ah... that's this week" Damn I forgot about that. Joy. "Fine I'll be there, bye Mum" I hang-up before she kept me on the phone for another hour. I loved my Mum don't get me wrong but that was just it, we were too close that I found it hard having my own life without her butting in.

Getting out of the bed finally I still can't believe Jay's found a girl to showcase to his family. It's been years now that I found out that Jay my young brother is gay but no one else in my family knew. Hell Jay didn't even know I knew and when it came to telling my family it wasn't my secret to tell.

I didn't care, he could do whatever he wants with his life as long as he was safe and happy I don't care who he's with. But Jay's got it in his head that we'll all hate him for it and not think of him the same but he couldn't be more wrong. Mum only pushes Jay, Paul my other little other and I to have a girlfriend because she wants to see us happy not because it has to be a girl.

I can't understand how hard it must be for him, living in the closet not telling anyone... I only found out because Jay got drunk one Christmas and tried to kiss one of the players on my Rugby team. Lucky the guy was a close friend of mine and came and told me other than the papers, with our family being high in society it would be all over the media when it's all out and I imagine that's not how he wants to tell our family.

Our family were always in the papers and magazines, Dad had a large advertising company in Ireland so our family always came from money. Then I got signed on Ireland's first rugby team when I was eighteen with my best friend Connor Orden who's a great friend to the family. In other words his completely in love with my sister but she can't see it, which brings us too Lily my little sister. She's been a model since she was sixteen and has now suddenly decided she wants to stop modelling for acting instead and then there was Paul... the drifter... the joker whatever you want to call him. Paul is our little black sheep in the family. Being the youngest he doesn't really do anything but somehow still makes money and gets his pictures in the paper. A little hush... he has done a lot in his little life, but that's the problem he's done a lot. Never really stuck at anything long enough to call it a career, he was a great race car driver at one point then packet it in to travel the world. I wish I was more laid back like him.
