I woke up rather early due to the horrible gap in timezones. I actually unpacked my bags and filled the room with clothes and music vinyls, I'm a pretty avid vinyl collector and I dabble in music one way or another. I was classically trained in the cello as a kid but as I grew up I started getting into less fancy instruments. I decided to freshen up and make breakfast for me and Amdromeda. I always wondered why my parents insisted in conjoined custody for me. Why didn't they pick Narcissa? She was the one they preferred the most, but that beats me. I guess they didn't want me to become a 'Draco'.
I went into the kitchen and saw Draco sitting in the balcony. I was startled at the sight of this so early in the morning. Plus, I didn't know Draco visited Andromeda at all. To my surprise she was also awake and cooking breakfast for us.
"Sleep well, darling?" She asked me.
"Not too well." I said. "I'm still getting used to this time zone." I opened the balcony door and sat on the chair across from Draco.
"How was your night?" He asked.
"It could've been better."
"You could always move in to the manor, you know?"
"I know." I said. "What brings you here?"
"I come every morning before visiting Astoria." He said. "It gives me a break from my family."
"Understandable." I said, "Are you joining us for lunch in the Burrow?" He shook his head.
"I never feel welcome there." He said. "What can I say? They highly dislike me."
"They do not. You just have a bad attitude." Andromeda said as she served us.
"I try." Draco joked.
"That's true, he can't really change his personality." I said.
"For your information, I happen to have a dazzling personality. Thank you very much." He joked. I laughed."Where was this sense of humor when we were kids?" I asked.
"I've lightened up." He said, "I must be going. Andromeda. Gianna. See you tomorrow." And with that he disapparated."That's nice of him." I said.
"That boy carries an eternal burden." She said. "Bigger than yours even."
"I guess he does." I said.
"At least you were never forced to do what you didn't want to do." She said. It's true. Draco had it way worse than me, I don't know how he holds up so well after seeing so much.
Until 12 I explored around Andromeda's house. It was a long way from my old home, which I was dying to visit again. It was way more homely than mine, my house was an extravagant manor almost as posh as Malfoy Manor. I dressed nicely to lunch with the Weasleys as I wanted to make a good impression with them. Andromeda and I apparated to the Burrow.
I followed her inside and was greeted with weird looks from the rest of the Weasleys aside from George and Ron who had seen me yesterday.
"Grandma!" Teddy shouted and ran towards Andromeda. He hugged her and turned his attention to me.
"Aunt Gianna, you're still here!" He said.
"That's because I'm staying here. I'm going to live with you now." I said.
"Mum, this is Gianna." George said putting a hand on my back and pushing me a little towards her.
"She's my niece." Andromeda said. Niece. Even though my mother was a cousin of Andromeda's, not a sister.
"Hello, dear. I apologize. I wasn't expecting you."
"It's okay. Angelina's not coming, she can sit next to me." George said and smiled at me. Everyone was looking at me a bit judgmentally.
"Andromeda, is that... you know.. the niece?" Mrs. Weasley asked. Andromeda nodded.
"Guys, this is Gianna." George said loudly.
"She's my favorite aunt!" Teddy said.
"I better be." I said and picked him up. Ginny rolled her eyes. Oops. I lowered my head as I sat next to George and Teddy sat on my lap. I get what Draco means. They looked at me like an outcast.
"So, 'Aunt Gianna', what do you do for a living?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
"I've been in between jobs but currently I'm leaning towards working with magical beasts." I said. "I'm a Magizoologist."
"My second eldest, Charlie, is a dragon tamer." Mr. Weasley said.
"That's brilliant. I'm a little more specialized in Hippogriffs..."
"Like Buckbeak." Ron said. "Wait. You're Buckbeak's owner, aren't you?" I nodded.
"Buckbeak was mine in the first place, yes." I said. "My family donated him to Hogwarts until the incident happened.. I was supposed to take him back after Sirius.." There was silence.
"Wasn't he Harry's?" Ginny asked.
"He was, but we talked about it... he's still mine but I allowed Hagrid to keep him since I was away."
"That's where he's supposed to be, with others." Ginny said.
"Pardon me, my family is... was known for breeding Hippogriffs and training them. We supplied Hogwarts with Hippogriffs."
"They're not supposed to be bred like dogs." Hermione said as she entered the Burrow. "They're wild beasts."
"I suppose you're familiar with the term veterinarian which is what my father was." I said. Deep breaths. They'll warm up to me. I just have to be nicer, I should be nicer. Why am I not being nicer?
