George and I sat in silence for a few minutes. Neither of us knew what to say. I was confused on why I took it in the first place. Maybe my subconscious spoke for me. My eyes watered. How could I be so selfish? George put an arm around me.
"You deserve it." George said. "It's a great opportunity." I didn't answer. I buried my head on my knees. He stood up giving me a hand to do so. "Enjoy the time you have with them." He pointed at my family's table which was visible from where we stood.
"Right now I just want to be here with you." I said. "You know, I still haven't shown you the memory."
"I know." He said. "I've been saving it."
"Why?"
"Just in case." He said. "You know how weird it feels now that you've decided. It's almost sad but it's still great, y'know."
"I'm sorry." I said. "I'm so sorry." I hugged him.
"Don't be." He said. "I'm not the one who'll be called Professor for the rest of her life." He chuckled.
"Shut up." I said. We turned around as we heard the balcony doors open. Draco, Andromeda and Narcissa stood before us.
"Catherine told us." Andromeda said as she rushed over and hugged me. "My sweetheart, I'm going to miss you dearly." My eyes watered. "But you've made the right choice. I love you." I was furious that Catherine went ahead and told my family for me but I felt happy in Andromeda's embrace. She pulled away just to find myself in someone else's arms, Narcissa.
"And I was starting to worry that you felt pressured to stay." Narcissa said. I chuckled. "I love you forever even if I think you're making a mistake." And once again she pulled away for me to be greeted by Draco.
"I thought you wouldn't be capable of leaving." Draco said. "I'm going to miss you most. You've made me a better person but I'm happy that you're happy." We all sighed.
"I'm sorry." I said. "I know that you all wanted me to stay deep inside, I know that you also just got me back. I just want you to know that I love all of you with my entire heart. Even you, George." They chuckled. The emotional moment was interrupted by Daniel who came in and hugged me as well.
"I'm so glad you came through." He said. Those words angered me. "I can't wait to see you back at Ilvermorny like old times." I smiled at him and grabbed George's hand and led him inside.
"I just want to be with you. Is that bad?" I asked. He chuckled.
"Not at all." He said. "Let's dance."
"I'm a dreadful dancer." I said.
"So am I." He said. And we continued to start horribly dancing along to the string quartet, completely out of rhythm and sync.
"Didn't they teach you to dance for the Yule Ball?" I asked him. He chuckled.
"What about you?"
"Did you really think Snape was going to teach us how to dance?" I said. He chuckled. "Apparently it's a stereotype that Slytherins should know how to dance." He chuckled.
"I can singlehandedly deny that stereotype."
"Hey!" I said indignantly.
"I'm honest out of love." George said. We decided it was time to stop humiliating ourselves and sat back down.
"Weasley." Flitwick said.
"What's up, Professor?" George said.
"Let me say that I was a great admirer of your and Fred's work." He said. George looked extremely accomplished. "It's incredible to think that you figured that all out by yourselves."
"We had a little help from you, sir." George said. Flitwick laughed.
"You've got a good one here, miss Gianna." He said. I smiled. "It's lovely to know that."
"Thanks, Professor." I said. "I know." George smiled at me.
"First time you actually accept a Gianna-George-dating compliment." He said.
"I got you for a limited time so I might as well." I said. "I should've consulted it with you all before I accepted the job."
"Did Fred and I consult with anyone before leaving school?" George said. "No, it's your choice. You were going to do it either way."
"I just feel like I betrayed you all." I said. "I mean, what are you going to do after I leave? Where will you go?"
"I think I'll go back to mum and dad's for a while." He said. "But don't worry about me. I'm a grown man." I chuckled.
"I'm going to miss you." I said.
"Yeah. Let's not think about that." He said. "We're here together now and very cheesily, may I add, that's all that matters."
"You're right." I said. "Let's just enjoy this."
"Yeah and tomorrow we start the bucket list." George said.
"The bucket list?"
"Yeah of stuff you'll do before leaving." He said. I smiled. George was the loveliest, I can't believe that I'm actually letting him go just like that. I really thought it was impossible for a guy like him to have feelings for someone like me but he has proven me otherwise and I can't believe I'm just throwing it all away. We left the ball a bit earlier and went home and just talked, drank firewhiskey and ate ice cream for the rest of the night because in that moment it just felt right.
