Another week passed and I had been working with George but we hadn't been able to create more than two products. I tell you, we had no chemistry. I wasn't really creative with products. He was amazing at it, all I had to do was charm a few things and maybe help a little here and there but I preferred to help Ron with the customers if I'm being honest and I think George was feeling that too.
I was helping Ron rearrange a booth, the love potion one to be exact.
"If I give Hermione one of these will she kill me?" Ron asked.
"Probably." I answered. I hadn't seen Angelina in a while but I was scared of asking them. "Ron.. is Angelina alright?" I shrugged.
"I dunno. They broke up last week." He said. What?! "George is kind of sad about it." How hadn't I noticed?
"I didn't know. That's horrible."
"Yeah, I think it'll be a while before he gets another girlfriend." Ron said, there goes my plan.
"I'd hate to see him sad." I said.
"Trust me, you'd hate it even more if you had seen it." He said. "We've been trying to distract him. Christmas is coming up and you know... it's sad for all of us but especially for him."
"I'll do my best to keep him distracted with product ideas.. if you'd like." I said.
"He gets distracted with those anyways around this time."
"I guess." I said as I picked up a bottle that had fallen. "I'm dreadfully clumsy." Ron chuckled. George entered the joke shop with a few boxes of products.
"Morning!" He said happily. "Gianna, mum sent me to tell you that you guys are all welcome for Christmas including Malfoy."
"Wow." I said, "That's lovely, thanks."
"I can't believe Mum insists on inviting that Malfoy git every year." Ron said. I glared at him.
"That's my cousin you're talking about." I said.
"No fighting." George said. "You. Come with me." He pointed at me. "Ron, finish carrying the boxes, will you?" I followed George to the familiar office.
"I have this and this." He said holding up two bottles. "Malfoy said you're dreadful at potions. But dreadful in your family must mean you're at least okay in normal ones. Show me what you can do with these two." I took them from George's hands.
"These can be mixed to create an invisibility potion." I said.
"How can you tell?" He asked.
"My whole family is known for being potions nerds." I said. "If you add some lizard tails and conjure a simple invisibility charm it should be complete." He nodded.
"Get to it." He said. "And you said you're bad."
"I could help this once." I said. "I'm completely useless at everything, George."
"Yeah, yeah. Keep talking." He said as he exited the office, leaving me to work with the potions. I did a few of them but I didn't have enough lizard tails in the shop.
"Weasley, I'm going out to buy lizard tails." I said. "Anything else you want? My treat." They shook their heads. "Suit yourselves."
I went over to the Apothecary and bought a few ingredients to see what I could create. As I walked back to the joke shop, I ran into Aunt Cissy in Twilfitt and Tatting's clothing shop.
"Gianna, my dear." She said. "Come here and pick out a dress. My treat."
"I'm sorry, Aunt Cissy. I have to get back to work." Truth is, I hated shopping with her. I wasn't skinny and those dresses were awfully small.
"Why are you working?" She asked.
"It keeps me busy." I said as I started walking.
"Remember, we're having a ball this Christmas Eve." How could I forget? The Malfoy's annual Christmas ball with the most elite of the elite.
"Thanks for the reminder, Aunt Cissy." I said as I walked away. When I got to the joke shop I was greeted by George and Ron.
"Took you long enough." Ron said.
"I bumped into Draco's mother." I said. "She's having a ball this Christmas Eve. You should come and make it a little more bearable for me."
"Better not." Ron said.
"If there's something Malfoys hate is Weasleys." George added.
"It goes both ways." I snapped.
"They started it." Ron said.
"True, you got me there." I said. "I'd be grateful if either of you changed your minds, though. I really hate being there and Draco's with Astoria so I'll be alone."
"You can handle it." George said. I rolled my eyes and proceeded to work with the potions.
