The next days were incredibly dull because Teddy left for the weekend with Harry. Of course, the daily breakfasts with Draco did keep me sane. Until one day when the three of us were eating silently and Andromeda spoke up.
"So, Gianna." She said. "Do you fancy George?" Draco looked up from his plate to me and snickered. "That's a yes, isn't it?" I nodded reluctantly.
"I mean, he is kind of cute." I said.
"I knew it." She said. "Did you know that he asked Teddy if you were single?"
"Teddy sure tells everyone." I said chuckling. "It's nothing, Andromeda. Nothing'll happen."
"I mean, yesterday he seemed a little eager to talk to you alone at the stables." She said.
"Yeah, that's because I faked being ill to get out of seeing him." I said. Draco chuckled.
"Running away from problems: Level Gianna." He said.
"Shut up."
"I think you'd make a cute couple. Remus and Tonks were very fond of him and Fred." She said. "They're lovely."
"Yeah. Gianna has had some experience with them in the past." Draco said. Andromeda's eyes widened.
"Not like that." I said. "I was kind of acquainted with Fred -and George- but Fred most, in my rival years with Draco."
"You filthy traitor." Draco said and laughed.
"Oh my God, Gianna." Andromeda said laughing.
"Yeah, I gave Fred the inside scoop."
We heard a knock on the door, I got up and answered it expecting Harry and Teddy but instead it was George and Teddy.
"Aunt Gianna!" Teddy said and hugged me.
"Hello, my love." I said to him. "Your grandmother and Draco are eating breakfast."
"Hey." George said. I smiled at him.
"What brings you here?" I asked.
"Teddy insisted on me coming here." He said.
"Come on in, Uncle George!" Teddy said. "Sit." He grabbed George's hand and dragged him into the couch.
"Oh God." I muttered.
"What?"
"I think Teddy might think I miss Daniel." I said. "So he might be trying to set us up." I said. George laughed.
"Actually, that would make sense." He said. "He asked me if I missed Angelina."
"I wonder who taught him to be like that." I said and chuckled. He did too. "You have somewhere to be?" He shook his head. "Have breakfast with us." He followed me to the kitchen and I served him. Teddy's newfound magic sealed the balcony door and refused to open it unless we ate together. We ate in silence. A joke or two but nothing else. There wasn't much to talk about without getting too personal. As he finished, Teddy opened the door.
"Come, Uncle George. Let's play." He said and dragged George to his room. Draco came over to me.
"You're making more progress thanks to Teddy than on your own." He said. I chuckled.
"Oh, shut up." I said. Draco and I talked for a while, then Teddy and George joined us in the living room while Andromeda ran some errands.
"Draco, come here." Teddy said and forced Draco into following him. George and I chuckled.
"So ambitious." I said.
"Careful, he might be a Slytherin." George said.
"An amazing house to be in." I said. Honestly, I disliked it but you know, house pride.
"Only Slytherins think that." He said. Teddy returned alone.
"Draco left." He said and sat on George's lap. "Uncle George, can you read?" I laughed.
"I'm okay at reading." He said and chuckled. Teddy took out a ripped piece of parchment.
"What does it say here?" He asked George.
" 'I hate myself for this and much more. I shouldn't complain but I do, I have changed so much that I think I don't know myself anymore. How am I so nice? What's wrong with me? Was it him that made me change so much and-' " George started reading, until he noticed what he was reading. Oh no. Oh no. Oh no. Teddy had ripped a piece of one of my diary entries. "Where did you get this?" Teddy pointed at me.
"Ah. Give me that." I said. "I was writing a story." Lies.
"You said you hate yourself, Aunt Gianna?" Teddy asked. "Why? You're the prettiest girl in the world." I chuckled. George looked concerned.
"That's sweet, kiddo." I said. "As I said, it's for a story. Don't worry about it. But if you ever take a piece of parchment of mine ever again I'll take away your broom. Now, go take a shower." Teddy frowned at me and left to his room.
"Gianna, I'm sorry." George said. "I didn't notice it was yours."
"It's okay." I said. "Extremely embarrassing but whatever." I awkwardly chuckled.
"You shouldn't write things like that about yourself." He said.
"Yeah. I don't need a pep talk, Weasley." I said. "It's in the past. Just forget about it." George frowned. "Please, George. I don't want to talk about it."
"You're nice." He said.
"Don't try to make me feel better." I said and chuckled.
"I'm not." He said. "I'm actually trying to destroy you by using your awkwardness after getting compliments ." I laughed and looked at him. I never look people in the eyes. I don't know why. Looking at George's felt strange. He smiled. "I'd hug you but I feel like you're very bad at hugs." I laughed again.
"You're not wrong." I said. "My family wasn't much for hugs. Maybe in the future." I chuckled, so did he.
"I have to go." He said. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"Bye, George." I said. He looked at me sweetly.
"Bye, Gianna." He said.
"Thanks."
"For what?"
"For your presence." I said. "You're nice."
"I try." He said and smiled before apparating out. What just happened?
