Charlotte's POV

I wake the morning after my big performance and hear knocking on my door. I quickly jump out of bed and open the door. One of the ballet girls who I had recently become friends with, Meg Giry. She has long blonde hair, similar to my sister's and just as curly. Her warm brown eyes are filled with life. She smiles and I move over so she can come into my room. She grabbed my hands and dragged my over to the bed, we sit down and she continues to hold my hands.

"Charlotte, you sang so wonderfully last night! You should've seen everyone's faces, they were all under a spell! The Phantom must've been impressed and by your voice." She smiles and releases my hands. The Phantom? I've never heard of him before. I give her a confused look.

"Who is the Phantom?" I question her. She looks shocked.

"You do not know who the Phantom of the Opera is?" I shake my head no. "He has been terrorizing this opera house for the past three years. He always causes trouble throughout the theater by stealing props or trying to get rid of Carlotta, which actually worked. I've seen him a couple times, he's very tall and is always dressed in black. He wears a white mask on the left half of his face and he looks like a skeleton, tall and thin. I've heard stories that under the mask, there is no face. Just a black hole for where it should be. It's terrifying. He is everywhere and anywhere." I'm shocked, I never believed in ghosts but after hearing this, I'm not so sure that ghosts are fake.

"Oh...and you think that he liked my singing?" She nods so much that I worry about her head falling off her neck. I hope he did enjoy my singing. He sounds so mysterious. I wonder if I can summon the ghost with my singing?

"Thank you for telling me all of that, Meg." I glance at the clock on my bedside table and see that it is 9:30. "Isn't your mother expecting you to be at practice right now?" Meg looks at the clock and jumps up from my bed.

"Oh my gosh I must be going! Goodbye Charlotte I'll come find you after practice." And with that, Meg rushes out of my room. I laugh to myself and walk over to my vanity. I sit down, pick up my brush and attempt to brush my unruly brown hair. Once I have it somewhat under control, I walk over to my wardrobe and grab my corset and a light blue dress with pink accents.

Once I finished tying my corset, I slipped my dress on over my head and then found a pair of black flats to throw on. I open the door and walk out into the hallway and make my way to the stage for today's rehearsal.

-----------

Rehearsal had finished for the day and I walk out of the theater. I walk down a hallway towards my room. I really wanted to see Yvette. I turned the corner and saw a shadowy figure at the end of the hallway. I stopped dead in my tracks. Could it be the Phantom?

"Hello? Who is there?" I ask as I slowly walk down the hallway. The figure disappears and I run down the hallway after it. I reach the end of the hallway and look left and right, but the figure disappeared. I sighed and walk back down the way I came. I sigh and start singing quietly to myself.

You were once my one companion
You were all that mattered
You were once a friend and father
Then my world was shattered

I remember my parents. Mother and father, even though I was little at the time, they still treated me like a princess. I turn left and walk down the hallway, running my hand along the expensive wallpaper.

Wishing you were somehow here again
Wishing you were somehow near
Sometimes it seemed if I just dreamed
Somehow you would be here

The only reason why my parents kicked me out, was because I refused to leave my sister's side. I don't regret my choice to stand by my sister, but I sometimes miss my parents.
