Yvette's POV
I move about my room, humming to myself. I run my fingers along all the dresses in my closet, picking out a simple red dress with long sleeves. I throw it over the side of the changing screen when I hear a knock on my door. I walk over to open the door but Charlotte bursts into my room before I even touch the nob.
"Oh Yvee there you are!" Charlotte exclaims dramatically, throwing her arms around me. I laugh and push her away from me. She smiles at me and then notices my attire.
"Yvee!! Who were you with last night?" She asks and raises an eyebrow. I blush and look down at myself.
"I wasn't with anyone." I say non nonchalantly as I walk behind the changing screen. I unbutton Erik's shirt, throwing it over the side of the screen.
"Yvee you are my sister! I know when you are lying." I hear her say and I smile as I remember the events from this morning.
"Okay maybe I was with someone, but you cannot tell anyone." I hiss poking my head around the screen and glare at her. "Can you grab my corset and a pair of underwear out of my closet, please?" I asked.
"Hold on." Charlotte says and I go back behind the screen, smoothing out the dress. "Yvee, here's the underwear but I can't find your corset." She throws my underwear over the screen. My corset? I face palm myself, I left it down with Erik because it was wet.
"Oh..I must've sent it off to get washed..." I say slowly.
"Mhhm." I hear Lotte say. I finish dressing and come out from behind the screen. She's sitting on my head staring at the rose on my vanity.
"So...are you gonna tell me who the man is?" She wiggles her eyebrows at me. I roll my eyes and sit down on the bed beside her. "Please Yvee, you are killing me!!"
"Fine, fine, I'll tell you." I say and laugh. "His name is Erik, he works as a.." I trail off and try to think of a job for Erik. "He's an artist." She nods.
"What's he like?" She rests her head on hands. I sigh and smile.
"He's very mysterious, but he is so handsome. Erik also plays the organ and he sings, oh Lotte how he sings!" I get up and spin around my room with my eyes closed. I hear Charlotte laugh.
"It sounds like my sister is in looooove." She draws out the word love and I stop spinning. Was I in love with Erik? Perhaps. I shrug and walk over to my vanity and sit down. I begin powdering my face to cover up the deformity. Charlotte comes up behind, grabs the brush that is sitting on the vanity, and begins brushing my hair.
"I'm all done, do you want me to pin it up or anything?" I shake my head and she smiles. "Do you want to go shopping for the ball?" I look at her, confused.
"What ball?" She gasps.
"Oh my gosh! I totally forgot since you were with Erik last night." She wiggles her eyebrows when she says Erik. "The managers announced that they were going to hold a mascaraed ball to celebrate, um, I'm not sure. I think just for fun." She giggles. "So do you want to go?"
"Sure! That would be fun." I stand and she links arms with me. I open a drawer on the vanity and pull out my purse. Luckily, we had gotten paid the other day so we had money to buy dresses.
~~~~~
"Let's go into this store." Lotte says as she drags me by the arm into a dress store. When we walk in, we are instantly greeted by a short old lady.
"Hello ladies, what can I do for you today?" She asks with a warm smile on her face.
"My sister and I are looking for dresses to attend a mascaraed." I say gesturing to Charlotte.
