Ch21

"It's invisible, what type of animal turns invisible?" Harriet yelled as she hung on, we had led the monster farther away from Harper Futuristic, we didn't want to draw any attention to ourselves there; too bad I might die trying to save this stupid city and I have school tomorrow.

I don't know but we have to figure out how to destroy this thing before- Rochelle, watch out!" Marissa warned me, but it was too late, the monster had picked up a tree and threw it at me, scratching my face and throwing me into the river that was behind me. I don't know what was happening, but I wasn't screaming, I wasn't afraid, I was quiet and it all seemed so slow that I smiled at it. When the water hit me I opened my eyes and saw the red emergency lights go off in Mech X-3. I have never felt this serene in my life and it's kinda scary in a good way, that I felt this good when I was in danger.

I just know that a lot of water was coming in threw the air vents and once it reaches the robot's head that was it, we'll be gone. I felt a tug on my waist, my sister was trying to disconnect me from the belt. I saw something in the water's reflection against the sunlight that peeked through the water's ripples.

It was big and I could see a color shift in the water for a split second,"It's a chameleon or something, that's why we can't see it, it blends in with its environment." I told them.

"Well what are you going to do, Roe, we're getting destroyed?" Sparrow asked trying to get get her things under control as the water slowly rose to her waist.

I could almost feel the gears turn in my head as I thought of the plan. I started to slowly swim to the top of the water and grabbed a boulder the was near the river bank, I waited patiently.

I felt a tug on my foot and was, once again, dragged back down into the water. I swung into  the direction of what grabbed me and saw ooze come float in the water.

"I found it, Sparrow get ready for a plasma punch." I told her, she started to get it ready and once she did I punch the monster where the ooze is coming from and the impact made the creature explode and the water shoot up. Just then I saw a robotic hand come into the water and I grabbed it, of course it was Ryan.

Once we were out my phone started ringing, so I took it out of my bra and answered it.

"Rochelle Williams, you are in trouble!" Ryan screamed in my ear, I had to hold the phone a little farther away from my face.

"Ryan, in fine, I had it under control." I told him until Marissa had to come and grab my phone to say," No she didn't, we almost died!"

We made it back to the base, Harris and Harriet then began checking in Ryan and I. I was a lot more beaten up than him; I had a huge gash on my right jaw, my ribs were bruised, and my ankle was dislocated. I saw was because Marissa popped it back in place for me. I never said that we weren't an aggressive pair of siblings.

"I thought I told you to call me if you were in trouble?" Ryan chastised me, sitting beside me as we shared a bed.

"I'm sorry, but I didn't have any time, this things wanted me gone, and I needed to have my game on guard." I explained to him exhaustedly.

"On guard? Love, blood is dripping down your neck, I was so afraid when I saw you in that water." He told me, breathlessly. It then occurred to me that he was on the verge of tears.

"I'm sorry, I really am, but if this thing wanted me gone then it could've killed you too." I looked at him. He looked down at our hands that were oh-so close to each other and grasped mine. He then laid his head softly on my shoulder.

"You're gonna be fine, Roe, we just have to finish this project I've been working on." Harris said leaving the room.

"Looks and brains, he's great." Harriet said as she chased after her lover.

"Are we like that?" Ryan asked raising an eyebrow with his voice getting lighter and happier.

"No way, we are way cuter than them." My baby chuckled, looking at me.

I looked back at him with a giggle of my own and a nod as I closed my eyes for a moment then opened them saying," Oh, yeah, by a long shot."

Ryan grabbed my right hand with both of his, kissing my knuckles and playing with my fingers. He then furrowed his eyebrows and said," Roe, your fingers are longer than mine." He announced making it sound more like a question.

"Yeah, don't talk about it." I pouted, furrowing my eyebrows and looking in my lap. Ryan tried to miniver his head so that he could see me through my curls.

"Don't worry, sweetie, I love you for you. You and your long fingers, short temper, jealous behavior, wild side, insecure side, and all of this hair that flows like a beautiful, black, twisted waterfall with even more beautiful sparks glistening from it. You're my everything, and I'm proud to call you my girlfriend." He now hand both of my hands to his lips. I was all flustered and flabbergasted that I didn't exactly know what to do with myself.

It was quiet for a moment when he had started asking me random questions one of them being," Roe, sweet girl, if you don't mind me asking, what exactly is your middle name?"

I looked up at him, my face blank and calm, none of it really seeping in for me until something clicked and I replied," I have two middle names; Rosemary and Arrietty. My name is Rochelle Rosemary Arrietty Williams." I simply answered.

"Stunning, absolutely beautiful." He told me breathlessly looking at me with a sparkle in his gorgeous, green eyes.

We started to absentmindedly pull together like opposite charged magnets. Until," Ryan, we have to go, it's an emergency!" Mark yelled at us as he barged into the room.
