Satomi's P.O.V.
I fly Appa to Kyoshi Island much to my disliking since I had to leave Aang in the earth kingdom town. The town didn't accept water nation currency and we had spent what little earth nation currency we had on supplies. I sigh. Katara, Sokka, and I were charged by Aang to go find evidence of Kyoshi's innocence. If I had time I would have gone to the spirit world to ask Fang about this, but I didn't have time and it wouldn't provide concrete proof. Katara and Sokka searched the island with me not far behind them for any clues. Katara came to the conclusion that if the temple and statue of Chin were made of the same stone and built after Chin's death that Kyoshi would never have set foot on the island. She also found a foot print on the edge of the island. We decided to return to Kyoshi Island to find some more clues in aiding Aang's case. I hope the trip will prove to be fruitful and not be in vain. I do not have the strength to free Aang from prison and I fear Aang would be angry if I ruined his name with the people anymore than it has been.I bring Appa down with care and the villagers greet us with cheers but are clearly disappointed when Aang is no where to be seen. Katara and Sokka quickly explain our reasons for returning to Oyaji who then swiftly leads us to the shrine of Kyoshi. The walk is short thanks to Oyaji. Kyoshi couldn't have murdered the man Chin. She was founding this island at the time Chin was murdered. Also the footprint Katara found was small. Sokka notices that Kyoshi's feet are large and points this out to Katara. I nod. This is what we needed. We thank Oyaji and take off rather abruptly. We rush back to the village on Appa where the siblings present their evidence. The mayor is the jury and judge of the trial and the villagers only prose the story they know. I sigh shaking my head as it pounds still. This is not going to work. I will leave the two to figure something out. They need to learn to think without me to be of use to their Avatar. The village head finds Aang guilty. I sigh and remove my hood. I stand up and begin bending myself in the air without my glider. Maybe this will tire me enough to get to sleep. I close my eyes for a moment before slipping into the Avatar State.
"I am the Avatar's guardian and possess the same abilities as he does and I can speak to our past lives," I explain. I close my eyes. "Kyoshi," I whisper," please speak through me to aid Aang's case." I feel a wave of power wash over me and I am shoved far back into my mind. I can not see or feel anything but I can hear Kyoshi's voice ring through my head. I don't know how but I do know that I now look like Kyoshi. She admits that she did kill Chin, but only because he was conquering surrounding lands. She refers to him as Chin the Conqueror because of this. She tells them that she came alone to face Chin and his army to protect her people. She used the Avatar State to separate the Kyoshi peninsula from the rest of the island to create Kyoshi Island. She tells the people how as she was floating away on the Island Chin refused to back away from a crumbling ledge and he fell to his death. Kyoshi's presence leaves me and I slip out of the Avatar State. I feel my body falling and I am caught by someone. I faintly hear Aang's voice. "Aang?" I ask softly prying my eyes open with difficulty to find a blurry Sokka holding me.
"Kyoshi confessed to the murder," Sokka informs me.
"I could hear her. What happened?" I ask him pressing my head to ease the throb.
"You turned into Kyoshi," he replies. "Can you stand?" he asks me.
"Yeah, I think so," I say. Sokka gently sets me on my feet, but keeps his hand on my elbow in case gravity takes over again. "Thank you. Where is Aang?" I ask him searching the crowd from where I had last heard his voice.
"No problem. He's up there now," Sokka says releasing my elbow and pointing at the stage. I snap my head around to find Aang spinning a wheel that will choose his punishment. It lands on being boiled in oil. The towns people begin to prepare the punishment.
"Satomi," he squeaks. I push past people to get to the stage, but I am tossed around like nothing. I shove into people and scramble to get to the stage. "Satomi," Aang calls out in fear.
