"how do you stand straight black coffee? it's like taking the coffee beans and chewing them up." miyoung cringed, clutching her insulted cup filled to the brim with peppermint mocha tightly to warm her hands up. she took a sip, sighing in content at the flavor.
"it's black and bitter, like my soul." i smiled sweetly, with a tinge of sarcasm in the mix. i looked down at my coffee, stirring it around with my finger a tad before licking the remnants off of my finger. i made an ahh sound, looking over at miyoung with a smirk playing at my lips. "delicious."
"you're disgusting." miyoung rolled her eyes, taking another sip of her peppermint mocha.
"drinking that makes you a basic white bi-"
"language," miyoung scolded, narrowing her eyes disapprovingly at me as she interrupted me mid-sentence. "at least i'm not an emo."
"that's not even the correct way to say it!" i playfully shoved miyoung, but underestimated my strength, as she fell to the left- and landed directly onto an innocent bystander. her coffee spilt all over the person, and with a low groan from the person and a high-pitched squeal from miyoung, they tumbled to the ground.
i cupped a hand over my mouth, stifling both a laugh due to miyoung, and a worried are you okay to the stranger. i walked over to the pair, firstly hovering over miyoung and taunting her. "so, what'd you say about me being emo?"
miyoung mocked me in a high-pitched, whiny voice before pushing herself off of the ground, them turning her attention towards the peppermint mocha covered stranger. she sat on her legs beside the stranger, pushing their hair out of their face to see if she could identify them. her eyes grew wide, her mouth flew open, and a shriek escaped her lips as she jumped so far back away from the person, from my perspective, it looked like she flew.
curious, i walked up beside the person and looked down at them, a laugh i attempted to stifle escaping my mouth as i identified them almost instantly.
it was her favorite out of BTS, j-hope.
"are you okay?" i took the liberty to ask him, as he was still groaning, and his shirt was soaked in peppermint mocha. his white shirt was becoming see through, and a blush spread across my cheeks as his abs became visible. i forced myself to look away, returning my attention towards his face, which was beautiful as well. no matter where i looked, my cheeks became a deeper shade of red.
"i guess so, but my shirt is ruined." he sighed, looking down at his stained white shirt. i pressed my lips into a thin line, keeping my eyes away from his abdominal region. "what is this? peppermint?"
i stifled a chuckle as i nodded, my eyes slightly squinting as i held my chuckle in. "i'm sorry."
"it wasn't your fault," he began to sit up, balancing his weight on his arms as he steadied himself. "at least i smell nice." he was extremely optimistic, which reminded me a tad bit of my sister, but i withheld those emotions, focusing solely on the peppermint mocha soaked boy in front of me.
"i have to admit," i sighed, perching my hands on my hips. "you do smell nice."
he chuckled, looking down at his shirt. in one swift movement, he pushed himself to his feet, wiping the pebbles off of the back of his pants- as if that did him any justice. he was still soaked in peppermint mocha. "is your friend okay?" he pointed towards miyoung, who was sitting in the fetal position beside a bus stop, earning odd looks from the homeless man that resided there.
"doubt it." i chuckled, tucking my free hand into my jacket pocket, the temperature was beginning to drop. i took a sip of my coffee, the bitterness sending fuzzy feelings throughout my body as i sighed in content.
"it was nice speaking to you, but i have to go, i have friends waiting for me." and with that, he stormed off the scene, leaving me slightly confused and miyoung still rocking back and forth whilst in the fetal position by the bus stop.
i watched as he jogged down the street, back towards tim hortons. i looked down at the large wet spot on the concrete, which was the remnants of miyoung's peppermint mocha, only to discover a phone laying a few inches away, untouched by the liquid.
i furrowed my eyebrows as i bent down to pick it up, examining it closely. the phone case was a typical clear case, but with a picture placed inside of it.
it was of that boy, j-hope, and his band members. taehyung, who was also in that picture, caught my eye, his signature square smile making a slight smile creep upon my own face. i turned it on, the bright screen catching me slightly off guard, as i had mine turned down to the lowest setting- i had sensitive eyes.
i adjusted the brightness, pressing the home button, but to my surprise, it didn't ask for a passcode, it simply unlocked.
i began to panic. i had a famous persons' phone in my hands, along with more famous peoples number within the contacts. fans would pay thousands for this phone, and would kill to be in my position.
but being the good person i was, i simply turned it off, tucking it into my back pocket, saving the trouble for later. it didn't seem like he was coming back looking for it, anyways, he was probably with his friends at this point.
"miyoung," i walked towards miyoung, who didn't move a muscle, not even acknowledging my presence. i lightly kicked her foot, causing her rocking to halt, and her head to slowly turn my way. her eyes grew wide. "are.. you okay?"
"no." her voice was blank, as was her expression beside her wide, doe-like eyes. she licked her chapped lips, fumbling with her thumbs as she spoke. "i spilt peppermint mocha on jung hoseok."
"and," i fished his phone out of my back pocket, showcasing it to miyoung in all its glory. "i have his phone."
miyoung's mouth slowly flew open as realization hit her. she cupped a hand over her mouth, muffling her absentminded shrieks and squeals as she reached for it with her free hand. within the shrieks and squeals, i hear a gimme gimme. i withdrew the phone, tucking it safely into my jacket pocket, zipping it closed. miyoung groaned in frustration, taking her hand down.
"how did you get his phone?" her question initially started out quiet, but her voice grew louder and she completed her sentence.
"he must've dropped it when he fell." i shrugged, taking a sip of my coffee as i watched miyoung push herself to her feet, her mouth still slightly ajar.
"i bet all of their numbers are on there," miyoung gasped, placing a hand over her heart. "and i could get hoseoks as well!"
"miyoung, we aren't taking their numbers. i'm going to find one of his friends, his manager, or somebody in his contact list and tell them i have his phone."
"is there a password?"
i pressed my lips into a thin line, gently shaking my head, hoping miyoung wouldn't see. but, she did, and her mouth flew open even more, and i was surprised she hadn't dislocated her jaw.
"oh my god!" she shouted, earning the attention of almost everyone around us. she quietened down as she noticed their eyes staring holes through her small form, toning down her excitement a couple octaves. "oh my god."
"we aren't going to do anything, though. let's just go back to my house." i sighed, tugging on her wrist, pulling her behind me as i walked.
"i don't have my peppermint mocha anymore." she whined, flailing her free arm around in aggravation.
"you can have a sip of my coffee," i extended my coffee cup out towards her, but instead, she made an tsk noise and shoved it back. i shrugged, taking a sip of my bitter coffee.
"i don't want any of that death liquid. i'd rather eat straight coffee beans."
