jenna approached her balcony, wrapping her nimble fingers around the door handles and tugging them both open in one swift movement, smiling to herself as her eyes landed on the dark, star filled night sky.
the sky that night intrigued jenna more than any other night- an eclipse was due. the darkness that was beginning to envelop the bright moon cast a gloomy vibe among the city, which both made jenna happy, and more depressed.
she stepped out onto her balcony, grasping onto the cool, metal fence with both of her hands, slightly leaning over the edge to completely and thoroughly take in the view. the dying trees that surround her home added to the aura of that night, the creepy, bare and leafless branches making odd shadows on the crowd as the moon shone from above.
jenna had an all too familiar feeling in her stomach that wreaked havoc from the inside out, a feeling she had felt too much in her lifetime; regret.
she didn't regret bringing baekhyun into her life, that was one of the best decisions she had ever made- she regretted bringing taehyung into her life. she lowered her shield for him, but in the end, he did what almost every other person did that she let into her heart- he ripped it out and obliterated it.
and sadly enough, baekhyun was the one to help clean up taehyung's mass destruction on her heart by gluing the puzzle pieces back into place. the glue wasn't helping much, though, as she still felt her heart breaking with every good memory of taehyung.
jenna knew taehyung's sudden reveal of her and baekhyun's secret would come with consequences, and she was willing to face them with an open mind, and with a protected heart- she didn't want a repeat of heartbreak that she was just then recovering from, if you would even categorize her distressed, broken state as "recovering".
she knew the journey that lied ahead was going to be filled to the brim with heartbreak, if it was either miyoung, her, baekhyun, or taehyung. and for some odd reason, she believed it was going to be l
her.
she hadn't had any idea of what her and baekhyun had ever done to taehyung to make him betray them as he did. her mind was confused, her heart was full of scars, and the truth was etched in stone. she knew taehyung nor miyoung would forget that day, though baekhyun and jenna's relationship wasn't any of their business.
but, taehyung couldn't take back what he said, therefore, jenna would just have to live with it.
jenna stepped backwards away from the metal fence as a cold wind began to blow, causing chill bumps to arise on her bare arms and thin legging clad legs. instead of going with the most logical option and returning to her bedroom, she instead stayed outside, in the center of the balcony, hugging herself for warmth. her shaw blew gently in the wind as it brushed against her freezing form, and the scene on her balcony probably looked like something out of a drama to the people on the sidewalk below.
she peered up at the moon, which was slowly becoming looking to become a crescent moon due to the impending eclipse. she was anticipating the complete blanket of darkness that would soon cover the moon, as depressing and foul as it sounded. many people thought the eclipses were beautiful as well, but not to the extent that jenna felt. she longed for the darkness that came with the eclipse, it made her feel at ease. that's why she never missed an eclipse.
her eyes became rounded as the darkness formed a blanket over the once bright, full moon, forming a sheath of black over chicago, the only light coming from the stars, the street lights, and the light from the moon seeping out from behind the darkness. she let out a deep, long sigh at the view in front of her, satisfied. she approached the fence once more, placing her hands back on the still freezing metal bar of the fence.
