jenna didn't think twice about his stunning statement, merely standing in the corner of the elevator in pure and utter shock. taehyung simply turned back around and waited for the elevator to stop, which it did, and it dinged as the doors opened. jenna didn't make an effort to stop him as he left the elevator, leaving jenna in a state of pure shock.
she couldn't move, it was like her brain wasn't sending alerts to her muscles and joints to move. she just stood there, dumbfounded with her mouth in the shape of an o with her coffee and her sandwich still in her hands. as the elevator doors began to close again, she began alert and came back to her senses, quickly pressing a button on the elevator pad that reopened the doors, and she swiftly left the elevator without looking for any sign of taehyung.
instead of investigating further into the matter, she brushed it off of her shoulders, justifying that baekhyun and taehyung were merely becoming better friends, so taehyung decided to pay him a visit. so, she proceeded towards miyoung's apartment, knocking in a pattern that only miyoung knew, which alerted her that jenna was at the door. they had a secret knock that only they knew about which was a tell tale sign one of them was at the door.
in a matter of seconds, her apartment door flew open, revealing miyoung. her appearance slightly caught jenna off guard, as she backed away from miyoung, who simply looked at her with an odd look. "hi?"
"miyoung, you look... horrible." jenna was blunt, yes, but it was the truth. miyoung looked as if she had just crawled out from her grave. her hair was tied back into a messy bun, dark circles outlined the bottom of her small, hooded eyes, and her posture had fallen horrid as she slouched over and stared over at jenna with a deadpan look on her face.
"thanks." sarcasm was dripping was miyoung's tired, groggy voice as she rolled her eyes, supporting her sickly form against her front door. "why are you here?"
jenna was, yet again, taken aback by miyoung, this time by her attitude. she wasn't the peppy, happy, and optimistic miyoung jenna had grown to love. instead, this miyoung reminded jenna of herself. an eccentric hermit, a slight misanthrope, a pessimist. though jenna could relate to that version of miyoung more, she missed the old miyoung. it seemed as if jimin's death took a heavy toll on her attitude and overall appearance.
"i was worried about you. you haven't called or texted me since jimin passed. and, you weren't at the funeral." miyoung seemed to slouch even more at the mere mention of jimin's passing, as she nearly slid down the door from her poor posture.
miyoung sighed, leaning her head against the corner of the door and closing her eyes. "i haven't slept. i haven't left my apartment. i haven't done anything. i don't know what to do with myself."
"can i come in?" miyoung's eyes opened at jenna's statement, and with a gentle nod, she pulled her door open more and allowed jenna to step inside.
once she reached miyoung's bedroom, she could tell she hadn't left her bed for days. her sheets were a jumbled mess, her pillows were crinkled, and her computer was laying on the edge of her bed. a liter of coke was on her nightstand along with a family size bag of chips, although jenna knew miyoung wouldn't have any family over.
"you need to leave your apartment." jenna shook her head at the room, which had practically gone to shambles. miyoung shrugged, plopping face first onto her bed and groaning into her sheets. "get dressed, brush your hair, i'll take you to tim hortons."
"no," miyoung rolled over onto her back with a sigh, placing one hand on her bloated stomach. "i don't want to leave for a few more weeks."
"get up, lazy. you can't waste your life away in here." miyoung chuckled at jenna's sudden optimism.
"says the person who wallows in her own self-pity on her terrace every night. you're a pessimist, stop trying to be an optimist."
"you're difficult."
"you're a hypocrite."
jenna let out an agitated grown, throwing her hands up in the air in defeat. "okay, i give up. i'll le-"
jenna's sentence was cut off by a loud bang against the wall, which started both jenna and miyoung. miyoung sprang off her bed like a frightened cat, standing up with perfect posture and round eyes, "i'm awake now."
"what's going on over there?" jenna flinched when she heard another bang against the wall, along with a faint breaking noise, as if a vase or a glass had toppled over and broken. as another bang erupted from the other side of the wall, a low grunt was heard in the mix, which scared jenna even more. "should we check it out?"
"check it out? are you kidding? that's a death wish." miyoung whisper-yelled, looking over at jenna as if she was an idiot. although jenna's suggestion was a horrible idea and idiotic, jenna was fascinated by the event happening next door, so she did what first came to her mind; she headed for miyoung's door to check out the commotion.
"are you insane?" miyoung followed closely behind jenna, who didn't give a second thought to her plan as she left miyoung's apartment and stood in front of miyoung's neighbors' front door.
miyoung clutched tightly and fearfully onto jenna's jacket sleeve as jenna slowly reached forward and hesitantly knocked on the door. surprisingly, the door wasn't completely closed, as it began to creak open due to jenna's gentle knock.
both jenna and miyoung let out a startled gasp as yet another hanging was heard from inside the room, but instead of the low grunt she had heard in miyoung's bedroom, a name was called out.
"taehyung! stop it!"
as if a switch had flipped inside jenna's mind, she pushed the door open and ran into the apartment, tugging miyoung behind her against her will. and, as she expected, taehyung and baekhyun in were fighting in the center of the kitchen.
"stop it!" jenna yelled, pulling her jacket sleeve forcefully out of miyoung's grip, lunging herself toward towards baekhyun. she wrapped her hands around his bicep, tugging him away from taehyung, who was in such a blind fury he hadn't noticed jenna's presence until baekhyun was tugged away by her. "what are you two doing?"
"i know what you all have been doing!" taehyung shouted, wiping blood off of his lip cut with his sleeve. "he's using you, jenna!"
"what are you talking about?" miyoung chimed in, her voice quiet and gentle.
taehyung locked eyes with jenna, his eyes full of disappointment with a glint of hurt towards the situation. "let's just say," taehyung pried his eyes away from jenna's, shifting his gaze to miyoung, who was anticipating his answer. "that they are a bit more than friends."
