"thank you." taehyung muttered, his mouth mask slightly moving up and down as he moved his lips. he grasped the hot, styrofoam coffee cup, gently pulling his mask down halfway and taking a sip. it slightly burnt his tongue, but he pushed through the pain, as he was extremely thirsty and craved coffee.
he pulled his mask back up and exited the coffee shop, holding the door open for a woman with a stroller, who thanked him politely. he let the door loose and began to walk down the ramp, proceeding down the sidewalk towards the park.
today was his free day- his day away from his hyungs, a day to spend by himself without any interference. though he enjoyed the spotlight and the millions of fans, he needed a break at times, a chance to feel like a normal person without being stampeded by fans. he just wanted to relax with a cup of coffee, feeding bread to the birds at the park or feeding nuts to the squirrels. he loved animals to an extent beyond belief, and loved to feed any animal, even if they wanted to eat him more than his peace offering.
as he neared the gate to the park, the loud noises of the buzzing city began to interrupt his leisure time. so, he pulled his earbuds out of his pockets, plugged them into his phone, put them in his ears and began to play music. he turned it to the maximum volume, as he was used to loud noises. the music drowned or the sounds of the city, which made him relax his shoulders and begin to sip on his coffee.
he went through the gate of the park, sitting on a nearby bench and pulling both bread and acorns from his jacket pocket. he opened up the bread bag, tearing off a piece of the bread and tossing it towards a bird, which hopped happily towards the piece of bread and began to peck at it. taehyung smiled, tossing another piece of bread towards the bird's friend, which began to peck at the bread as well.
soon, he had a whole flock of birds pecking a pieces of his bread around the bench, along with a few squirrels whom he threw acorns to. a smile crept onto his lips, and although no one could see it, it was surely there.
once he ran out of food for the animals, he apologized, though he knew the animals couldn't understand his words. they eventually left after searching for more food, which made taehyung sigh at his good deed. he tucked the empty bags into his pockets, sipping on his near empty coffee as he surveyed the park.
the beautiful trees that were once covered with red, orange, and brown leaves were beginning to grow bare due to the changing seasons. his favorite season was winter, luckily, due to christmas and the snow. he loved having snowball fights and sledding, and waking up on christmas to find a blanket of white on the lawn.
taehyung took the last sip of his coffee, getting off of the bench and tossing it into a near garbage can along with the two empty bags. he proceeded down the path, taking a walk through the park, clearing his mind.
he tucked his cold hands into his front pockets, along with his phone, sighing in content as he observed his surroundings. from the combination of the small rays of sunlight seeping through the slots in between the leaves, to the slightly cloudy blue sky as the background, everything about this specific park made him happy.
nature made him feel at ease. although some spots in nature smelt kind of, well, bad, he loved the immersion of it all. some parks and forests smelt like flowers and honeysuckle, whilst others smelt like manure. but, he loved nature despite the smell.
he eventually made it through the park, exiting it through the gate on the opposite side of the one he entered through. he began his journey towards the shopping center, in need of some new jeans and possibly a souvenir for jin- he never leaves the house unless it's for a meeting or a concert.
he pulled his sunglasses over his eyes, not wanting someone to notice his distinctly different eye shape whilst in a large crowd of people, with potential bangtan fans mixed in. he changed his song before tucking his phone back into his pocket, slightly bobbing his head to the music as he walked.
taehyung's phone buzzed in his front pants pocket, his ringtone interrupting his music, the marimba tune beginning to get stuck in his head, distracting him from the vibration. he began to move his shoulders to the best, but he blinked a couple times and snapped himself out of dancing, quickly fishing his phone out of his front pocket when he heard the end of the ringtone beginning to near. without checking the caller id, he pressed answer, muttering a quick 'annyeonghaseyo'.
"t-taehyung?" it was jungkook. his voice was weak, quiet, and shaky, as if he had been crying for hours upon hours.
taehyung stopped in his tracks, stepping behind a tree as an oncoming swarm of people began to near him. he leant his back against the tree trunk.
weak, broken cries rang in from the other line, causing a knot of worry to form in taehyung's stomach. he unplugged his earbuds from his phone and pressed it against his ear, growing more worried with each broken cry that escaped jungkook's mouth.
"what's wrong?"
"i-it's jimin," he sniffled, letting out an exasperated and stressed noise before resuming his sentence. "he got hit."
//
what do you think jimin got hit by? by a person, by a ball, by a car? who knows ;)
