taehyung exited the police station, his eyes squinting as the bright sunlight shone into his eyes. he wasn't used to seeing the direct sunlight, and wasn't irritated by the sun in his eyes, he was actually grateful for it. he left the station without looking back, praying he'd never had to experience what he had just experienced again.

it was absolute torture being stuck in that small, cold, and desolate jail cell for a whole month without his phone, his friends, or his coffee. since he had nothing to keep him company, he resorted to immersing himself fully into his mind, dreaming up impossible scenarios to help better his life, which was slowly falling to shambles beneath his feet.

he cried. he cried for days upon days to the point to where he felt as if he had emptied his tear ducts. he was alone in his own personal hell, a hell couldn't escape without help. he was a lonely, broken person with a false smile that fooled everyone that crossed his path.

except for jenna.

she saw through the false smiles and his forced happy tone. she saw through his white lies and saw deep within his soul, and dug so deeply that she found the real him hidden beneath the darkness engulfing him from the inside out. but, taehyung had lost the only thing that brought him out of that hell, which made him simply sink deeper within it.

so, he wasted away his days by wallowing in his own self pity. he felt as if everyone gave up on him, especially the men he thought he could call his friends. friends wouldn't leave you alone, scared, and emotional in a jail cell for a month. friends wouldn't watch you slowly fall apart without asking you if you were okay.

friends wouldn't abandon you.

and that was exactly what they did.

as an attempt to clear his mind and temporarily distract him from the endless black void that was his mind, he changed his direction from his home to the harbor, which was luckily not too far away from the police station. he'd always taken refuge in nature when it seemed like everything and everyone were turning against him.

everything that had made him happy was ripped from his grasp, and a handful of those losses were completely out of his control. as much as he had tried to save his grandma and jimin, their death was inevitable. and losing the closest friends he had ever had was a close match to the pain he had felt when he lost two of the best people he had ever known. he just wanted everything to be over, all the pain, the torment, the torture, he wanted it all to disappear into thin air. but, he knew that was extremely unlikely, so he had to find his own ways to cope with it.

but, that one coping mechanism had been ripped from his grasp as well. he had nothing.

by the time taehyung had made it to the harbor, he was already in tears. his impending tears were clouding his vision, making the scene in front of him blurry. luckily, he could tell the border between the end of the dock and the harbor, and was quite lucky he didn't blindly waltz off the edge.

he blinked, the teats trapped in his eyes finally trickling down his cheeks, allowing him to be able to see once more. he wiped the tears away with his jacket sleeve, taking a seat at the end of the wooden dock. the dock was high enough above the water that his shoes wouldn't touch the harbor, so he could kick his feet over the edge freely.

he clasped his hands together and placed them in his lap, his eyes staring out into the distance. several boats were scattered about the harbor, some near the dock taehyung was seated on. he knew it wasn't a good idea to sit on the dock people use to board their boats, but he did it anyways.

he stared at the portion of the city parallel to the harbor, which was the side of the city he had met jenna on. he would never forget that fateful day, although it seemed like jenna was forcing herself to forget it. she abandoned him when he needed her most, which reminded him that he actually had nobody.

taehyung's phone vibrated in his back pocket, nearly making him fall off of the dock and into the harbor. he jumped at the sudden feeling, quickly pulling it out of his back pocket and checking his notifications.

taehyung clicked off his phone and sat beside him on the dock, ignoring the endless vibrations coming from the phone. he needed a moment of peace and tranquility away from everything, and that peace and tranquility wasn't permanent, as the second he left the comfort of nature, his problems would return. he wanted to permanently be immersed in nature where he problems were nonexistent.

as the wind grew colder, he began to shiver, and he knew it was time.

he pushed himself to his feet, not bothering to grab his phone. he left it placed neatly on the end of the dock. he observed his surroundings for a couple moments before he began to take deep, calming breaths, closing his eyes and listening to the sound of harbor.

he opened his hooded eyes, bringing two of his fingers up to his lips and lightly kissing them. "i love you, jenna."

and with that, he slowly fell backwards.

once his back came in contact with the freezing cold harbor water, he knew there was no going back.
