jenna's words became trapped in her throat as her eyes watched a figure unveil itself from the darkness within the room, stepping into the fluorescent lights of the hallway- it was hoseok.

the orange haired happy virus that literally always had a smile on his face, didn't happen to have a smile on his face at that moment. the only emotion showcased on his face was sadness and mourn, as if he had lost his best friend- and that was the truth, he had lost jimin, and possibly taehyung. hoseok looked as if he was on his last string of sanity, which was growing thinner and thinner, micro strands beginning to tear away.

he sniffled before he spoke, and his voice came out shaky and blatantly broken. his lips were immensely chapped, slightly sticking together which each word he spoke. "hi, jenna."

hoseok didn't even spare a gaze baekhyun's way, as baekhyun was the one that drove taehyung to that extent in the first place. if baekhyun and jenna hadn't been dating, and jenna didn't reject his confession, then taehyung wouldn't be in a hospital bed hooked up to an intravenous tube, his fate not certain.

jenna felt a pang of guilt deep in her stomach, and suddenly felt a wave of nausea take over her senses as she began to recall taehyung's passionate confession. she shouldn't have lied to him, herself, or to baekhyun. they both were such amazing people that didn't deserve any of the things jenna had put them through, and if she could take everything back, she would in a heartbeat. but sadly, that wasn't how life worked, so she had to face the situation like an adult.

"h-how is taehyung?"

"he's.. not doing well. come in." hoseok sniffled once more, stepping out of the way, unveiling the rest of the hospital room.

as jenna stepped into the room, the overwhelming feeling of sadness took over her body as her eyes landed on the bed in front of her. taehyung had never looked so miserable.

his once bright, beautiful, and magnificently crafted eyes were closed (and jenna wondered if she'd ever see them again), his skin was paler than his usual pigmentation, an intravenous tube was connected to the back of his hand, and an oxygen mask was placed on his nose and mouth. he looked like a shell of what he used to be, and all jenna wanted in that moment was to take everything back.

take all the sorrow she caused him, take all the sleepless nights she gave him, take all the tears he shed due to her rejection, back. take every single sour memory they had together and replace it with happiness. but, that was out of her reach, and all she had to do in that moment was wish for the best.

"what'd they say about him?"

hoseok stepped up beside jenna and crossed his arms, his hooded and watery eyes locked on taehyung. "his breathing is stable, but not stable enough. that's why he has the mask."

"how long he has been like this?"

"since they pulled him out of the harbor. someone saw him jump and called 911 the second they saw him go under. scarring for them, and us." hoseok sighed, stepping away from the bed and taking a seat beside jungkook, who was fast asleep.

"i'm sorry." jenna didn't think twice about baekhyun, all she did was stare at the figure lying on the bed. she couldn't even call the practical corpse on the hospital bed taehyung, she just couldn't bring herself to. that thing on the bed wasn't taehyung, just a body without a soul.

"it's okay. he'll be okay." jenna muttered an i hope underneath her breath, turning her back to the bed to face baekhyun. his eyes were filled with sympathy, and he had the strongest urge to hug her, but with taehyung's bandmates staring holes into him, he didn't think it was the appropriate time. "hoseok, can i speak to you outside?"

"me?"

"is there anyone else in this room named hoseok?"

hoseok rolled his eyes at jenna's sarcasm, and she flashed baekhyun a weak smile before following hoseok out of the hospital room.

"hoseok," jenna closed the door behind them, letting out a chaste sigh and letting her head fall. "i'm in love with taehyung."

"now you say this? after he attempted suicide? jenna, it's a bit late for a confession." hoseok's voice was stern and bitter, all the hoseok-esque emotion leaving his tone. jenna didn't dare meet his gaze, she simply kept her head down and her eyes locked on her shoes.

"i've been in love with him for a while, hoseok. i... i just haven't been in the right mindset to come to terms with my feelings. i was afraid, afraid of liking him."

"jenna, he confessed like a month ago, you could've accepted his confession. that would've saved us so much."

"it's not that easy, though. i was, and still am, with baekhyun." jenna scratched the back of her arm, praying to God that baekhyun couldn't hear their conversation on the other side of the door.

"then leave him."

"i kinda love him too?"

"jenna!" hoseok shouted, his tone growing louder and louder the more agitated her grew. "make up your mind before i have to do it for you," hoseok reached for the doorknob, grasping tightly onto the metal knob. "and we all know that won't be pretty."

and with that, hoseok opened the door, stepped back into the room, and slammed it shut behind him. jenna flinched at the noise, but ended up resting her back against the door and sliding down it until she was seated on the floor. then;

she cried until her tear ducts were empty.
