With his arms around her
She forgets for a moment
All the blood
and the sickness
And just enjoys the present.
After all, Luke Harthens, was holding her.
For years, she'd heard
his music.
But never in her wildest dreams
had she even imagined this.
She almost wants to pinch herself
But she knows it won't end well.
He pulls away
Her jaw drops in realization
"You seem like an amazing girl."
He says but she almost doesn't hear it.
Shock overwhelms her senses
She tries to find words in reponse
But her mouth simply opens and closes
Empty air falling out.
His head tilts in
Confusion.
Until she finds the words:
"No one has hugged me in..."
She looks up to the ceiling in deep thought.
"Since I was 9 years old."
She says more for herself than him
Who knew one sentence could break a man
like that one did to Luke.
