Getting Used To The Idea...

"Boys! It's time to get up. Mum's got a busy day." I've got to go shopping, go and get some bits for the house as it seems empty." I heard the boys laugh. "Mum! That's Milo's fault. I don't eat that much!" I then heard the boys fighting. I laughed. "Well... it's not me. I don't eat that much." I walked into our bedroom seeing it messed up. Did Richard not know how to make a bed? I'm not doing it. Can you imagine bringing our new teenage daughter into this? I hope she's like me. Tidy and clean. "Mum? Mum?" I heard Otis say. "Yes sweetheart?" He came in brushing his hair. "I'm going to meet Layla. Sorry, I forgot to tell you." I smiled. "It's alright darling. Just be back by 9pm."

I went downstairs. Richard had already gone out. I decided to go to the studios to talk to Tom Chambers about adopting Mia. I'd been working with him and Charles for years and I really valued their opinions as colleagues.  I got in the car and drove to our local supermarket. I went in and got everything off my list. I was thinking of getting Mia something too. If I was going to make this official, she deserves a gift. What should I buy for her? Some food? A CD? An item of clothing? I settled on a CD. The only album that I knew was doing well in the charts was Glory Days by Little Mix! Emily (who plays my on-screen daughter Grace loves them! She told me. I got her a copy of that and a really cute printed top. I'd give them to her later on today. I told Richard that I wanted to tell Milo and Otis when I'd finished everything and I'd come home. I was so excited. I paid for her gifts and made my way to the Casualty studios...

I got to the studios and everyone greeted me. "Morning Amanda.' Charles smiled at me. "You're not meant to be filming today are you?" I smiled. "No I'm not. I'm off today. I'm planning my personal short film tomorrow." I then smiled more. "Are you alright Amanda? You look like you're happy. Is everything alright?" I followed him into the canteen. "Do you remember when I told you I really wished for a daughter along with my 2 sons? Well.. I've taken matters into my own hands and I've looked into adopting. Richard really wants it too. We are waiting to tell the boys.  They've always wanted a sister. I've spoken to the care workers where she's currently living and I've obviously read her case file. It's really shocking. She's had a traumatic childhood. She really needs looking after. She obviously watches the show and and was watching a Jonnie scene and I surprised her and she looked so shocked, excited and emotional. At least I can say my future daughter loves the TV show I'm currently on. She had quite a few opinions on Jacob too!" I laughed. "Oh thanks. Connie is very lucky! I'm like your TV husband!" I laughed even more. He's so funny.  "Do me a favour? Don't tell any one yet. It's still in progress. I wanted to tell you as you're one of the closest friends I have in our little cast friendship circle. "No problem Amanda. You can tell everyone when you're ready."
