I rushed down King's cross station as I made my way to platform 9 3/4. I was late, like usual, my mother had driven me to school and let's just say she wasn't the best at muggle driving.
My name is Leilani Leachman but you can call me Leilani Lea or just Leilani, I don't mind. I was attending Hogwarts school of Witchcraft and Wizardry in my 5th year of education, I was a bit worried about joining when I was new and friend-less for the time being.
Previously I had been taught by my father, Daniel Demeulle, before he died. We still don't know how he died despite the ministry's extensive research into the death, all I know is one day 3 men in black cloaks came to my house in the middle of my Transfiguration lesson then my father ushered me outside where he told me to go and buy the food shopping.
I was confused as we had done the shopping two days prior but nevertheless did as I was told and went down the road to the small grocers. I was paying for the bread and milk when I heard a blood-curdling scream from my house, above in the clouds stood a large scull with a snake protruding out of the mouth. The clouds surrounding had turned a nasty green colour in addition to parting ways from the skull, as if the clouds were retreating in fear.
My bread dropped to the floor with a thump as I ran as fast as I humanely could to get to my house but I was not ready for the sight inside. The windows were smashed, the wallpaper was peeling of the walls and the large antique vase had been reduced to clutter. Just as I stood in the doorway, a mass of black knocked me off my feet which sent me forwards. I landed on something still and hard but when I looked at what had broke my fall I broke out into sobs. It was my father.
I was snapped back into reality when I felt a few tears trickle silently down my face, The train! I was going to miss the train! Once again you could see me running towards the platform with my trolley, packed with my luggage and owl. The barrier opened as I let out a sigh of relief that the train hadn't set off yet, a man with uniform offered to take my bags and I obliged taking my robes and owl with me i climbed aboard the train.
The train was a bustle of noise, there were students joining friends,hugging family or entering compartments. I had no clue where to sit so I looked for the compartment that sat my father's old house. Ravenclaw. I had hoped to make friends before I got to the school. I journeyed towards the end of the train when a carriage door with a blue crest embedded on the glass pane, I slightly opened the door to reveal an array of people all wearing the familiar shaded of Dark blue. I came upon a table with a girl with black, pin-straight hair and another girl with blonde curly hair, they seemed nice as the smiled at me when I walked up to them.
"Is it okay if I could sit here?" I asked politely.
"Of course, sit down next to Luna." The girl with black hair answered pointing to the girl with blonde hair who was smiling broadly.
"Hi, Luna Lovegood and this is Cho Chang." Luna said as I sat down next to her.
"I'm Leilani Leachman, but you can just call me Leilani Lea if you want?" I answered
"It's very nice to meet you Leilani Lea, are you new here?" Luna said, her voice was so simple yet so comforting.
"Yes, I believe I am in the fifth year?" I answered inquiringly.
"So are we!!" Cho exclaimed excitedly, I laughed at her reaction.
"Do you know what house you might be in?" Luna questioned.
"I'm not certain but my father's side of the family were all Ravenclaw's so that's why I decided to sit in this compartment."
"We're in Ravenclaw too!" Cho exclaimed again.
The rest of the train journey consisted of talking to the two girls, I was feeling more at home by the minute. I was glad I had made some friends, now all I had to worry about was if I was to join Ravenclaw or not.
Draco's POV
Once again I was back at Hogwarts,I was walking through the platform with my mother and father. My mother looked close to tears but my father showed no emotion at all, sometimes I wondered how they ended up together. They were like chalk and cheese. My mother loved me with all her heart and it broke her when I would leave for Hogwarts, on the other hand my father showed no emotion towards me and I knew he wished I weren't born.
My luggage was carried onto the train by the workers so I climbed up the step and stood to face my mother, she was crying already, I told her everything would be okay and I would be home at Christmas. She nodded and moved to the side to let my father talk to me, he just merely nodded but then he came up close and whispered;
"Don't bring disgrace to the Malfoy name."
I tutted because I knew he had done that damage already, openly being a death eater but in his eyes that was an acheivement and expected me to live up to his expectations. I gave my mother a hug before wandering to the Slytherin compartment, I opened the door and spotted Blaise in the usual corner table with Pansy. He caught my expression and frowned slightly before saying;
"He still the same?"
"Worse than ever." I muttered before sitting next to him.
