Loving the Dead

Chapter 18

Zahara and I stood in the training yard, and I breathed in the salty air, feeling at peace.

"Ok Annora, we haven't had a training session in a while so let's review. You are not as powerful as you could be yet without bonding with Belmiro, but you have bonded with Aiden, your past life, so that is one out of the two steps as becoming as powerful as you can be. Put practice all comes in handy with harnessing your power, so lets begin." Said Zahara with a smile. "I want you to pool your energy into your hand and then create a shield around you using that power."

I channeled my energy into my hand and a green blue light appeared into my hand. I then put my hands straight out on each side and and spread my energy out into a ball that enclosed me in it.

"Good job Annora! Ok Aiden has temporarily given me his powers so that I can help you train. I'm going to use the power to pick up rocks and throw them at your shield. You need to hold your ground but also at the same time destroy before they reach you. Ready?" She asked.

"Of course." I said with a sideways smile.

Zahara's eyes lit up bright green and her ringlets flowed around her. Rocks lifted off the ground and went around in a circle around her head. The first two rocks came rocketing at me and hit my shield knocking me backwards slightly before I could hit them.

I kept my ground and waited for the next round. Zahara then shot 3 large rocks at me and I shot bolts of energy through my shield and hit one of the rocks. The other two were coming fast and I shot another one before the third hit my shield knocking me on my back. I breathed in hard laying on the ground, and I just wanted to stay there, but I got back up.

"You know what Zahara? Trying to make a shield and shoot energy is too hard. Try throwing the rocks at me when I don't have a shield up." I say.

"Annora that's dangerous I don't wan-" but I interrupted,

"Zahara, just do it."

She sighed but saw my determination and gave it.

I stood in ready position with my left foot forward and my right foot back with both my hands out in front of my body, not in fists.

"Give me your best Zahara." I said.

Zahara shot two rocks straight at me and I shot down the first and then did a front flip over the next one, and it hit the stone wall behind me, dust flying all around me.

"That all you got?" I said with a smirk.

All of a sudden Zahara sent four rocks hurtling at me from three sides. One one my left and right and two right in front of me. I knew I couldn't hit all of them so I shot two rapid fire energy bolts at the two rocks in front if me and then leaped straight up into the air, the two rocks on my sides colliding together.

"Good job Annora! Good way to conserve your energy instead of shooting all of the rocks." Zahara said with a bright smile. She all of a sudden looked up at the balcony with fear and I turned around in ready position.

I look up and see Jacob standing on the balcony. I let myself relax.

"Jacob, what are you doing here?" I ask, cautious of him since I didn't tell him of Zahara yet.

"I watched you and Annora, you're amazing. I'm so sorry about all I said, it was just a great shock to me. Is there a place where we can talk in private?" He asked, looking nervously back and forth to Zahara and I.

"Yes of course but before we go I might as well make introductions. Jacob this is Zahara. She is a ghost that helps me train and is my best friend." I said with a smile.
