I really did it.
Energy thrummed through me. That stupid king didn't even look twice.
The servant snapped me out of my thoughts when she said "Here you are miss. There are clothes in the drawers for you. Feel free to take anything. Rest up for about an hour and then I'm going to send someone to show you around." She said with a smile.
"Thank you! What's your name?" I asked.
"I'm just a servant, no need to know my name."
"Please? You're one of the kindest people I have ever met." I asked again.
"Calypso." She said. She turned and started walking down the hall. Just as I was about to walk into the room she turned around and said, "You have beautiful eyes miss." And with a wink, left down the hall.
Hm. What an interesting name. Just like the god. And I almost forgot about my eyes. I have one green eye and one brown eye showing that I am Princess of the Dead. I wonder if she meant anything by that...
I went into the room and threw myself on my bed. I let out a big sigh of relief.
"Zahara, are you you there?" I asked quizzically to thin air.
I closed my eyes for a brief moment, and then opened them to see Zahara floating above my head. I always feel better with her around.
"Zahara, I did it! I fooled the king!" I said happily, doing a little dance around in the frilly dress.
"Yes love you did it! What are planning on doing now?" She asked.
I stopped mid dance. I hadn't really thought what I was going to do after I got here.
"Hm. Well the servant that walked me here said someone was going to meet me here in a few hours to show me around the place. So for now, how about we go practice?" I said.
Zahara nodded. I walked out onto the balcony, and happened to see that a practice area was right outside my balcony. It was perfect.
I dressed quickly, putting on loose black pants and a sleeveless top. I put my long black hair in a french braid that went down about mid back. I was ready to let some energy loose.
I ran off the balcony, doing a front flip into the air. I summed the energy around to give me a soft landing, and I landed on two feet. Oh how it felt good.
"Ok Zahara, what do you have for me today?" I said.
"Today we are going to work on how to channel your energy so you can shoot directly at something, and not just let loose. Luckily you're getting better at control though. First, I want you to reach out to the Dead. They are ready for you and in waiting." She said. Zahara was the best teacher I could hope for.
I called out to the Dead, asking for help. They responded, and I could see they were ready to be let out. But something was stopping me. Why wasn't this working?
I snapped open my eyes with a gasp. "Zahara, what's going on?" I said. Something didn't feel right.
She started laughing.
"Zahara! This is not a laughing moment! What. Is. Going. On." I said through gritted teeth.
"Annora sweetie, calm down. You're not concentrating enough. Do you have something on your mind? Or maybe someone?" She said with a wink. She was still chuckling.
I realized what was blocking me from reaching those lost souls.
Breccan.
I miss him so much.
Why couldn't he come with me? He is the only person I show weakness towards. He and I have known each other ever since we were children. His parents were killed in a war against the British. This is another reason why I hate them. He would always keep me calm when I would get out of control, and I have always been connected to him in some way. No one else has ever done that before, and I took a moment to remember his hazel eyes that change color in the sun. His shoulder length brown hair, which almost always smells like smoke.
With feelings flooding through me, I took a moment to remember why I had agreed to come here.
To kill those son of a bitches that call themselves the British.
