*Fifteen Years Ago*
"Hurry or we'll never make it in time." I knew in my heart it was really she who won't make it in time I thought to myself, as I looked down at the small bundle in my mother's arms. My baby sister was weeping up a storm as the explosions shook our home, our life, our planet. I may see Lyris again but I didn't dare hope. Only if I could step up and take charge then maybe just maybe I could change it all but for better or worse.
I was so lost in thought that I didn't notice when my mother stopped suddenly causing me to nearly bump into her and throw us both off a literal cliff that was newly formed in the explosions.
"Where are we taking her?" I asked again probably for the millionth time.
"I already told you Drave, Earth," my mother told me, "she'll be safe there."The words rung through my head as it did the first twenty times my mother answered me.
Earth, a land of humans, powerless people. She will always feel out of place there like something is missing but it is like my mother said. She'd be safe there.
My mother stared at me apparently waiting for me to do something. "Drave" she said again. My mouth hung open I was so lost in my thoughts I missed everything she was saying.
"What?" I asked.
"Go get it," she said again a hint of annoyance in her voice.
"Right," I muttered under my breath, "I'll go get it."
Soon the ship was ready to go and I gently put my sister in it closed it and watched it sail away out of sight.
"I know it's hard son but we need to stay strong, after all we have a war to win." my mother said wiping tears from her eyes.
"Yeah," I said knowing that she was right, "We do have a war to win."
"Then what are we waiting for let's go win it."
