I did not see that one coming

Cassie's P.O.V

I stared at my best friend my mouth wide open.

"Just did morning you said you didn't know him?" I yelled at Maddie.

Maddie looked at me as if she just realized I was there, then she punched Drave hard and he flinched.

"You could've told me she was there you idiot," Maddie told Drave annoyed.

Honestly, I thought everyone was afraid of Drave. I didn't know someone had the guts to even touch him rather than punch him. He was scary and up until about half an hour incredibly mean. As a matter of fact when he was comforting me because of the letter, that in my head was just strange because he's a complete jerk.  Well since I met him.

"What's going on?" I asked for the millionth time.

Maddie looked at Druim then at Drave, then at me and sighed.

"We have no time to explain, I'll get Matthew and let's go," Maddie told me.

"Wait a minute, did you say we. We are not explaining anything. Just you Maddie, just you," Drave said.

And he's back to being a complete jerk face. Yaaaaaaaaaaay (notice the sarcasm)

"Ugh, let's just go," I told them.

And with that we went in to Maddie's house. Now that I think of it, I never went inside Maddie's house, we always talked at school. We never hung out besides school, actually I never saw Maddie outside of school besides on the bus. Heck, I didn't even have the girl's number. I can't believe I never noticed that before. She was some great friend. (Again the sarcasm)

We were going through Maddie's house and I couldn't help but admire the inside. From the outside it looked really small, like broom closet small but on the inside it was huge and I'm talking about ballroom huge.

Dark hardwood lined the floors and sleek furniture decorated the interior of the house. And remember when I was talking about ballroom big. Well, yeah, a chandelier made for a ballroom hung in the center of the room, in its all grandeur and elegance. The walls were bright and the room was cozy despite it being so huge. Yeah I know, crazy right.

I was so lost in my admiration I didn't realize when Druim stopped in front of me.

"Matthew!" Maddie banged on a door, yelling Matthew's name.

"What Madison?" Matthew yelled back.

Oh I should've mentioned this earlier but Maddie's name is shortened from Madison, you probably figured that out already.

"It's important!" Maddie yelled back.

Matthew opened the door looking annoyed and his eyes rested on me then Druim and then Drave and his face brightened.

"So, it's time then," he said.

Maddie nodded her head.

And Matthew took off to what I'm assuming is the garage. He pulled of a cloth and I couldn't help but gasp. It was a big ship like a literal spaceship.

"That is extremely cool," I said and Druim looked at me and grinned.

"It better had be, we're going in it after all," said Matthew and I was surprised because that's the most he probably ever spoke to me.

Soon we were all in the spaceship heading to outer space I'm guessing.

This was going to be an interesting day.

Drave's P.O.V

I looked over at Lyris and her amazed expression. She seemed to be having a good time so far, well for now anyways. I spent fifteen years out of the thirty years I have lived trying to protect her and Druim. Yeah I know, I'm old.

Everyday since the day that I dropped her on that doorstep I wanted to do nothing more than take her away and keep her by my side. But I knew in my heart it would be better for her to have a normal fifteen years before the war and the fighting and feeling the weight of the world, wait no make that universe, on your shoulders. Yeah, big responsibility for a kid.

Ever since that day, the day of the war when the Vatlan asked me to join the Vatlan army, I knew either one, they saw me as a threat which was a good thing or two, they saw a kid making a fool of himself and was trying to get rid of him. Somehow, I thought it more to be the second one rather than the first. I could be wrong but it just seems like it.

I was snapped out of my thoughts by Lyris holding her head and screaming.

"Lyr...I mean Cassie, are you okay?" I asked her worried.

"I am screaming in pain here, of course I'm not fine, do I look like I'm taking a walk in the park or something," she said through gritted teeth, still holding her head.

Okay, I deserve that and I totally saw that coming. I was a complete jerk to her earlier and she is getting back at me. Wow, she's more like me than I realize, I mean I wasn't even around for most of her life but I still rubbed off on her.

Lyris was screaming again and before I could do anything she passed out.

"Maddie, could it have anything to do with the whole space travel thing?" I asked.

"No, she practically supposed to be the savior of Radon and the universe so I'm pretty sure she can handle a little shake due to some asteroids."

"Maybe, it's something else," said Druim.

"Oh, you don't say," I replied, my voice laced with sarcasm.

"I see where she gets it from," he muttered.

I smirked and then looked at my unconscious sister and my face fixed back into a frown. What could be the cause of this?
