Cassie's P.O.V
After that conversation with Drave's mother, I just collapsed on my bed and closed my eyes wondering why I couldn't have a normal life.
Drave was right by my bedside just staring at me.
"What?" I asked him.
He shook his head stifling a smile, "Nothing."
"No seriously, what is it?" I asked him again.
"I just remembered something, my sister told me," he said, a small smile on his face.
"Do you mean, the sister we came here to rescue?" I asked him.
He nodded his head sadly, "When you feel better, we'll go if you want to."
"This is what I came here for in the first place, to rescue your sister," I told him.
He looked as if he was considering something. He opened his mouth to say something when we interrupted by Matthew. I saw a different side of him these past few days. Before I knew he was from Radon, he was a complete jerk. Well, actually I can't say he was a complete jerk because we never used to talk but from what Maddie used to tell me, he sounded like a complete jerk. But I wondered if she was lying to try and cover up the fact that they were from a different planet.
"Are you okay?" Matthew asked.
I smiled and nodded. Sometimes, I wondered what was going through that boy's head. I mean we still weren't talking that much but much more than before. I didn't know what to think.
The three of us just looked at each other, this awkward silence just drowning us or me. Drave and Matthew seemed to be having some kind of silent conversation and I was there like the big idiot who had absolutely no clue as to what was happening.
"So, I'll leave now," Drave said, standing up with this big smirk on his face.
Matthew looked at him clearly agitated as if he didn't want to be left alone in the room with me. Seriously, what is his problem? I just couldn't put my finger on it.
After Drave left, Matthew and I just awkwardly stared at each other for what seemed like forever. He was just standing there looking at the ceiling, then at the floor and then at the ceiling again and finally the floor.
I had absolutely no intention of breaking the silence since my insides still felt like somebody broke it up and tried to stick it back together with a glue stick. Yeah, that's not a good reason for not talking to someone but I just really wanted to go back to sleep.
After what seemed like hours, he finally broke the silence,"So, how about this weather?"
As soon as Matthew said it, he looked like he wanted to knock his brain out of his skull. After all, I didn't even watch the sky when I came here and if I did I can't remember what it looked like. But seeing his attempt to start a conversation, I replied with the most suitable answer.
"Um, it's...nice," I said.
He laughed nervously and was going to say something else when he was interrupted by Maddie coming into the room.
"Am I interrupting something?" Maddie asked grinning at Matthew.
Alright, am I missing something here? Everyone was grinning at Matthew today. Why? I felt like I knew but at the same time, I didn't know.
"No, you are not interrupting anything," Matthew said quickly. He was clearly happy that someone interrupted his failed attempt at conversation.
"Alright," Maddie said, "Whatever you say. But we need to leave now, there's a Vatlan army fast approaching and they are not slowing down."
