Jade's P.O.V.
The sharp string of my bow slides through my fingers, as the arrow is shot into the air. It lodges itself in the man's leg, slowing him down so the guards could catch him. This is one of my easier jobs, I don't even have to kill anyone.
Turning around, I walk in the shadows of the buildings, blending in because of my dark assassin robes. I find a building with a staircase up the side and walk to the top. The buildings are close enough together so that I can jump from rooftop to rooftop on my way back to the castle.
When I get back to my tower, one of two military towers, I climb up to the top level, my room. On my way up, I pass training rooms and guard rooms. I prefer to train in my room, though, with its targets and dummies.
My room is split into two parts, one being the bedroom with a bed with neon green sheets and shelves all over the walls as well as band and zombie posters. The walls are a dark green. The other part is a training room.
I practice my training for a bit, shooting arrows at moving targets. Most of the time I hit the center. Suddenly there's a knock at my door. I open it just a crack, and there's a guard there. One of the new ones. He hands me a piece of paper.
"Hi. You're Jade right?" he greets. I nod. "Here's your new assignment." I take it and begin to walk away, closing the door. But his foot is lodged in the way.
"Can I help you?" I ask in a sarcastic tone.
"I'm Riley. Riley Thorne. If you need any help with that assignment, I could assist you," he offers.
"Uh, no, I don't need your help." I slam the door again, and it actually shuts. I flop down on my bed and begin to braid my hair. Later I'll have to visit Tom, my zombie. I guess he could be considered a pet. The castle only lets me keep him because the wizards are doing research on him. The zombie plague was destroyed years ago, but it's stil fun to experiment with the illness. There's a knock at my door, and I know it's Renny because she uses the special knock I have with my friends.
"Hiya Jadey!" She looks like a purple unicorn threw up on her.
"Don't call me that," I retort acidly, annoyed. She calls everyone weird nicknames. I grab my hoverboard and we head down to the cafe to meet Delilah, Leila, and Marie. On the way there we try out some awesome stunts on our hoverboards.
"Why are you guys so late?" Delilah questions.
"I had to kill someone," I answer, and everyone bursts out laughing.
"Whatcha got there?" Renny asks Delilah curiously, pointing to a piece of paper that Delilah's holding.
"A note from Prince Xayn," she replies nonchalantly.
"Well, open it!" I command impatiently as she tears off the seal.
