Saving the Prince

Chapter Nine: Renny's POV

Renny's P.O.V.

Marie runs ahead of Jade and I and stops at the end of the royal family's hallway. I skid to a halt beside her and gasp at what's happening.

Delilah is at the end of the hallway with her hands in the air as another guy dressed in black points a wand at her.

"Where is Prince Xayn?" he yells in fury.

"I don't know!" she replies innocently. She sees us behind the man but quickly looks away so the man won't notice us.

"Hey!" Jade yells, and the man turns and looks at us. That gives Delilah a chance to run up behind him, take his arm, and flip him in the air. He lands on the floor with a thunk. I quickly grab my wand from my boot and cast a freezing spell on him.

"C'mon guys!" I call as I run toward the wizard tower.

"Where are we going?" Marie questions.

"To my lab! I have a scrying bowl we can use to find out where the Prince is," I reply. We finally reach my lab and I quickly pull the scrying bowl out and look into the water. A watery image starts to waver onto the surface before clarifying. It's Xayn, sitting by Time River. I reach for my hoverboard and call his. While I wait for him to pick up, Delilah tells Jade and Marie to go to him in case any more men in black came to the castle. Soon his face appears on the screen of my hoverboard.

"What's up?" he asks.

"There might be some assassins nearby who want to kill you. Don't worry, Jade and Marie are on their way," Delilah explains. She clicks the button to end the discussion and we walk back down stairs. I suddenly get a feeling that something isn't right, then I remember that Leila wasn't with us. We should probably check on her. So Delilah and I go down to the kitchen.

When we get there, Logan has another assassin in a headlock and Leila had just knocked another one unconscious. I point my wand to use a spell to make the assassin Logan was handling unconscious and his body went slack. Logan releases as the black clothed body falls to the floor.

"Thank goodness you guys are okay!" Delilah comments.

"Why wouldn't we be?" Logan says with his usual cockiness. Leila joins us as we walked down to Time River. Xayn, Jade, and Marie are walking our way. We escort Xayn back to his room and tell a few of the guards to stand by them. Why hadn't they helped before?

I trudge back up to the top of the wizard tower, and Benjamin's there waiting. He manages to make me laugh before I head into my lavender-walled bedroom. I have a bright purple bed and two little cat beds, one light blue and the other flaming red. My room is covered with cat towers and toys. Prince Whiskers and Lavender meow at me and sit on my lap as I settle on to my bed to read.
