Renny's Point of View
Swinging my drawstring bag filled with spell books, small snacks, and some clothes around my shoulders, I finish filling a small bag with cat food and drop it in to a duffel bag that contains a small litter box and a few cat toys. I hug Lavender one last time because I won't be able to bring her; she's too old. And tonight everyone in our search party is staying in Delilah's room so we can leave early for the trip. So instead I'm bringing Prince Whiskers.
Tears begin to fall down my cheeks as I think of the weeks ahead without Lavender, who's always been there for me. We're always together, and I just can't imagine leaving her behind.
From behind me, a pair of arms wraps around me in a hug. I tilt my head to see that it's Benjamin. He says nothing, then removes his arms and sits next to me. We stare at each other in silence until he speaks.
"What are you crying about?" he questions.
"I have to leave Lavender behind," I answer sadly.
"Oh," he replies, looking down. Then he gets an idea. "Let me come with you," he suggests.
"No!" I answer too quickly. "I don't want to lose you."
"Well I don't want to loose you!" he whispers. I look up into his blue-gray eyes.
"I-I know but.. who's going to do the magic? Somebody's got to keep watch over the lab," I say. He just nods. New tears begin to tumble down my face as I realize I'm also leaving him behind. He's also always there to make me laugh when I'm depressed or exhausted. This journey is taking it's toll on me.
"Maybe you shouldn't go," Benjamin suggests as he notices my fresh tears. I shake my head.
"I have to go, to support Princess Delilah. And to find the prince," I answer, trying not to break out into sobs. Before I know it I'm reaching out to him and we hug one last time before I stand up and attempt to wipe my face.
"Be safe. And don't die," he warns me. I chuckle, leaning down to pet Prince Whiskers.
"Good-bye, Benjamin," I whisper, walking out the door with Prince Whiskers following closely behind. When I get to Delilah's room, she begins to tell us about our mission.
"Okay guys, so we're going to go south, towards Sang River," she starts to explain. Gasps erupt around the room, which holds Delilah, Leila, Jade, Renny, some guard named Riley who happens to be Jade's friends, and two other guards that I don't know.
"That's dangerous! There are barbarians there!" Marie shouts.
"So that's probably where they took Prince Xayn," Leila explains. I suppose that makes sense.
"Maybe they took him to Sang Castle," I wonder aloud. Heads nod in agreement.
"We'll find out when we get there. We're Party 1, and we leave first thing in the morning at 6 o' clock," Delilah tells us. I groan along with others in the room. I am not a morning person.
"So please get sleep. Good night everyone!" Leila yells, answered with a chorus of "good night's". Let's hope this search leads us to Prince Xayn.
