Chapter 10: Heat Wave

This morning, it was you who had to be woken up. Lucky for you, you were waken up before Hana could throw water at you. You groggily get up and you two do your routines. Once you're all dressed, you head to Winston's office, where you would figure out what your role of Overwatch would be.

"Are you ready to become an official member of Overwatch?" Hana asks as you are walking to the lab.

"Ready as I'll ever be. I don't know which thing I'd get. I mean, I liked all of them, but choosing just one?" You say.

"Well, unfortunately you can't get a mech. I just talked with Meka. They said no because you had to be a part of Meka to get one. Sorry."

"It's fine. Guess that means I'll just have to fly yours."

"Oh no. Mines off limits. Unless you have to use it, the Pink Bunny is only to be used by me."

"The Pink Bunny? That's predictable. You really need to expand your horizons a bit."

"Oh shut up." She says, nudging your arm. "Well, whatever it is, we'll be an unstoppable duo. Jogeumdo (조금도), it's hot today."

She's right. Sunny Gibraltar was hot, and it was still morning. The blue water by the base look so refreshing, you just wanted to jump into it and forget about all the Overwatch duties.

You got to the lab and felt a wave of coolness when you entered. You didn't know who invented air conditioning, but you thank whoever it was. Winston is by his computer eating peanut butter and isn't alone. There's a voice he's talking to, but you can't see them. Winston looks up and jumps down to meet you guys.

"Hi there (y/n) and Hana. Well (y/n), are you ready for what you'll use while you are here?" The gorilla asks.

You nod. "I'm glad you're deciding. I couldn't decide which one I liked the most."

"Well after some consideration and audience input, you will be using the silver backpack as your main weapon." He says and hands you the backpack.

It feels perfect. You try to dispense a shard, but it won't come out.

"Uh, Winston, we have a problem." You say.

Winston laughs. "That's because it's not turned on!"

You all laugh and you turn the switch on. You get a shard out and look at it in your hand. It's a deep red and it pointed on the top as it gets wider in the bottom. However, it still can be held due to the handle.

"Now I made some improvements with the backpack. Because I'm generous, I'm giving you the blue suit to go with it so you can use its potential. That, and we could use more healers." Winston says.

You look overjoyed and run to the Vishkar suit and put it on. With the suit on, you float a bit off the ground and get seven shards to go around you.

"This is so cool!" You exclaim.

You look down and see Winston smiling with satisfaction and Hana awestruck. You put the shards back and go down to where they are.

"Thank you so much Winston. How can I repay you?"

Winston laughs. "You being part of Overwatch is thanks enough. As long as you protect the innocent and maintain peace, you have my gratitude. Now, though the suit may be nice and you've done well with the shards, you aren't ready just yet. This means that you have to practice your aim, do close combat training, and learn strategies for missions. Now I can see who's available to help you right now if you'd like to start training."

Winston grabs a clipboard and adjusts his glasses as he looks at the schedule for people.

Hana POV
What's Winston doing? He knows I'm here, right?
