(A/n) So this may be the first of a series of flashbacks from Hana's past with you. They'll be told from her perspective. Part of the reason why I'm doing this is because I still don't know what to have you guys dress up. I might do Link and Zelda even though I said I wouldn't, but I've been playing Breath of the Wild and I'm in love with the game. So play that game if you can. With that said, enjoy :D
Today was my first day of school in a new country. (Y/n) told me that everything will be fine, but I'm still nervous. What if people don't really like me? There are going to be a few other Koreans there, but I don't know them too well. I'm probably going to stick with (y/n), because I'm not necessarily the most open person right now, but only if it's okay with him. I hope to get better, which is one of the reasons why I came to (home country); to branch out. I want to stream video games when I'm older, and I can't do that well if I can't talk to complete strangers.
"Hey Hana, are you ready?" I hear (y/n) say as he knocks on the bathroom door.
"Almost." I say.
"Well, hurry up. We don't want to be late."
I finish brushing my hair, splash cold water on my face, and take one last look in the mirror. You wanted to do this. Today's the day when you change. You're number one. Why else would you be named Hana (하나)?
I head out of the bathroom and grab my backpack. Then I head downstairs to the kitchen, where I see (y/n) and his brother eating food. I forgot that in more western nations they have a morning meal. (Y/n)'s brother sees me and points to a chair, where there's a bowl of food for me and a glass of juice.
"Hey Hana. Are you ready for your first day?" (Y/n)'s mom asks me. She's learned not over enunciate things anymore.
"I'm a bit tired and nervous, but hopefully today will be good." I say.
"I'm sure today will be fine. (Brother name), did you take the trash out?"
"No." (Brother name) sighs and starts to do his chore.
"I understand why you would be nervous, but you don't need to worry." (Y/n) says.
"Thanks, but it's just...I'm not necessarily the most open person. I am with you, but that is because you're my host family and I've gotten to know you guys." I say
"You'll be fine. If you want, you can just hangout with me. I'll introduce you to my friends and you can have lunch with us."
"Jeongmal? (정말)"
"Yeah. It's no biggie. My friends are like us. Y'know, gamers."
"Daedanhan! (대단한) Thank you (y/n)." I say as I give (y/n) a small hug, which causes him to blush.
"Y-you're welcome. W-we should get moving. We don't want to be late."
I nod, take one more bite of my breakfast, and grab my backpack. We go into Mrs. (L/n)'s car and head off to school. We drop (brother name) off first because his school was closer than ours. Then we were dropped off at the school.
I looked at the school and sighed. A new experience of education in a new country. I started to think about what possibilities could happen during my stay. Would I enjoy it? What would everyone think of me? Would people make fun of my Korean accent? My thoughts are interrupted by (y/n) putting a hand on my shoulder.
"Anything wrong?" He asks.
I shake my head. "Sorry. I zoned out."
"Stop worrying. Everything will go fine. Now let's head to class. Since I'm your homestay, you have the same classes as me. Just stick with me and you won't get lost. Alright?"
