Lily and James decided to wait a while to do Task One of the 'Malfoy Examination'. They decided to do it on the next Hogsmeade weekend. The next Hogsmeade trip was on a Saturday. Unfortunately for Rose and Albus, they weren't allowed to be with Scorpius during the examination. Lily had claimed it was so he wouldn't have any distractions.
Therefore, the two went into Hogsmeade together. They went to the Three Broomsticks first for butterbeers. They ordered and sat in silence until Madam Rosmerta brought out their drinks. She came clicking back to their table and set their drinks down in front of them. She walked away and the two picked their drinks up and drank deeply for a moment.
Albus smiled and pointed at Rose's upper lip. Rose covered it with her hand as she grabbed a napkin.
"Thanks for not saying it out loud," Rose said with a giggle.
"No problem. You would do the same for me, I expect," Albus said.
Rose nodded and smiled.
The good thing about Albus was that they could sit in silence and not have it be awkward. Rose liked that she was close to Albus.
"I've noticed something kind of...odd," Albus said, struggling to find the right word.
"What's that?" Rose asked him.
"You and Scor. You two seem kind of distant around one another. Is something going on?" Albus stated.
"Nothing that I know of, but now that I think about it, Scor's been acting sort of secretive lately. Like he's got something to hide," Rose said thoughtfully.
"Yeah. I've noticed that a bit," Albus agreed.
"What could he be hiding from me?" Rose asked.
Albus thought on it for a moment.
"Val!" he exclaimed suddenly.
"Come again?" Rose said.
"Val Frederick! She attends Beauxbatons! Scor told me he's known her since he was like, five. They dated for a while before she transferred from Hogwarts to Beauxbatons in third year. They dated in second year, I believe," Albus said.
"I don't remember a Val," Rose said suspiciously.
"Of course not! She was here when you still despised Scor. He told her all about you and she was disgusted that someone could be so rude to her 'Scor Scor'. I don't blame Scorpius for trying to get rid of her for a while after they first met. She was a little clingy," Albus replied.
"I can't believe I'm just now hearing of this! Why didn't he tell me?" Rose complained.
"I don't know. Maybe you should just talk to him," Albus shrugged.
"Albus Severus Potter! You think this is a joking matter?" Rose shrieked.
"No, I-"
"Whatever! I'm going to find him so we can talk about this," Rose said with a tone of finality.
She got up and walked out. All eyes were on her as she stormed away, slamming the door behind her.
She figured the task would take place in the Room of Requirement. She went there first. She walked in front of the blank wall and thought to herself quickly.
I need to find Scorpius Malfoy. I need to find Scorpius Malfoy. I need to find Scorpius Malfoy.
A door appeared on the wall and Rose turned the knob to open it. She stepped into a big open room with a desk at the far end. Lily and James sat at the desk and Scorpius stood in front. They seemed to be having a conversation. Scorpius turned when he heard Rose's footsteps. Lily peeked out from around Scorpius and frowned when she saw Rose. James stood up so quickly Rose barely had time to blink.
"What are you doing here?" they all three questioned at once.
"I need to have a talk with Malfoy," Rose said angrily.
She grabbed Scorpius's arm and dragged him out of the Room of Requirement and down the hall to an empty classroom. She cast the Muffliato spell her Uncle Harry had taught her around the room so no one could eavesdrop.
"Rose, what is going on-"
"Scorpius Hyperion Malfoy! How could you?" Rose demanded.
"What? I don't understand," Scorpius replied tentatively.
"Val Frederick. Are you going to deny that you'd been keeping your relationship with her from me?" Rose said heatedly.
"How'd you find out about Val?" Scorpius asked.
"Why do you tell Al things if you know he'll tell me?" Rose asked.
"Albus! He told you?" Scorpius asked angrily.
"Yes, as a matter of fact, he did! And I'm glad he told me! Otherwise, I'd still be living in the dark and you'd still be using me as just your little 'side girl' while you waited for Val!" Rose shrieked.
"You know good and well you aren't my 'side girl'! I love you!" Scorpius yelled.
"Are you going to keep telling me that until your beloved Val returns to Hogwarts? Yeah, I know the whole back story behind you two. You met at five years old, you dated in second year, she transferred to Beauxbatons. Al told me everything," Rose said.
"Rose, listen to me. I did like Val a bit back then, but I broke up with her right before she transferred. She was too clingy. We're still good friends, nothing more," Scorpius explained.
"That's what they all say," Rose replied scornfully.
"Come again?" Scorpius said.
He had heard her, but he wasn't processing it all in his mind.
"I think we should break up," Rose said finally.
"Rose-"
"I don't want to be in a relationship where I'm worried that my boyfriend is seeing other girls. I can't live like that. We need to break up," Rose explained.
Scorpius nodded, barely realizing what he was doing. Even so, Rose was so stubborn that he wouldn't be able to reason with her. Rose walked out of the room and left Scorpius in the classroom alone.
A single tear slid down Scorpius's cheek. He sat down and hugged his knees to his chest. He cried silently, as the charm first placed around the room had broken. Just then, there was a knock on the door. Scorpius wiped away his tears and went to open it. There stood Albus.
"What?" Scorpius asked him.
"What happened? I just saw Rose storming away down the corridor," Albus said.
"She broke up with me," Scorpius sniffled.
"Oh, Scor. I'm sorry," Albus replied in a comforting tone.
Scorpius wiped his eyes again.
"You want to talk about it, mate?" Albus asked his friend.
Scorpius shook his head and pushed past Albus to go somewhere private.
He decided on the Room of Requirement. He went there and walked back and forth in front of the wall three times.
I need a place to be alone and cry. I need a place to be alone and cry. I need a place to be alone and cry. Scorpius thought.
A door appeared suddenly. Scorpius turned the knob and walked inside. As soon as he shut the door behind him, fresh tears began to fall.

Rose was walking slowly down the corridor, her arms hanging limp at her sides. She couldn't believe what she had done, even though she knew it was for the best.
She came to the end of the corridor. She felt tears welling up in her eyes. She slid down the wall until she was sitting on the ground. She buried her face in her knees and cried freely. Suddenly, Rose heard a voice coming from nearby.
"Rose?" the voice said softly.
Rose looked up and her heart leapt.---
This was one of the longest chapters! I'm really proud of it! Sorry if you thought it was stupid, but I still enjoyed writing it.
